In reading other posts about nipple piercings, the general concensus seems to be that barbells pose the least amount of discomfort during healing. That's probably why I didn't have trouble the first time around and why I'm so shell shocked THIS time.

I just want to mirror what stef has said. Barbells healed significantly faster for me and I've heard and seen many woman have similar experiences (in spite of what the professional piercers will tell you - they're usually guys).

It's been about two years since mine healed over for similar reasons to yours. I tend to scar fairly easily and I've still got a bit of scar tissue from the first piercings. I also STILL push tissue occasionally (in the shower), even though they are healed over. It's true, however, that it's harder to get through scar tissue. I do cuttings too, and it's significantly more difficult to open an old scar than to lay a fresh one down. I think SherriA would tell you her cutting hurt worse the second time, too.

If you do decide to change the ring currently in to a barbell make sure the barbell is long enough that you can work soap, clean water and sea salt all the way through the piercing. This usually means buying a barbell that's really too long, but it puts less stress on the piercing while it's healing and during aftercare. Getting the soap and such all the way through the piercing is the only justification for using rings over barbells...they claim it's easier to take better aftercare of them because you can work stuff through it all the way. So, make sure you can EASILY work all your care solutions through the piercing, regardless of the jewelry you choose.

I'm of the opinion that a ring, no matter how large the diameter, is still going to pull down on the outer edges of the piercing and push up on the center. How can we expect a round object, placed through a straight hole, to heal better than a straight object through a straight hole? Save the rings for after you're healed.

This is not a question I can call and ask the local pharmacy [:)]

My breast lactate, "Master's Milk", will nipple stretching or piercing in any way effect the milk coming out, or cause damage to the nipple?

My inclination is to say it probably won't effect it, but I have no personal experience with it and this is just a guess.

<smile> My son is 25, it's been a while since I was interested in lactation.

stef is right, though, anytime you punch a hole in your skin it's going to cause 'damage.' It's a foreign object where your skin is supposed to be. I doubt that it would cause difficulty in your lactation, however, the heal time for nipples is upwards of six months (even if they FEEL healed before then). For that time it's most appropriate not to play or stress the nipples and you certainly don't want a mouth on the piercing (the mouth is perhaps the most dirty part of the human anatomy). That would be more likely to cause infection.

Well i produce milk substance naturally and after my peircings were out for 4 yrs the susbstance would still come out of the still opened holes. So i got them repeirced and i still produce the same amount of stuff so i would say you would be fine, but it will take a while to let the area heal as some milk ducts are bound to be severed when the peircing is done. Thankfully there are a number of ducts that will still produce milk.

I'd like to add some additional benefits of nipple stretching. Setting aside piercing, nipple stretching can be done with a standard breast pump one uses when breastfeeding a baby. I breast fed my children and my nipples grew in size from doing so, especially when I returned to work and resorted to using a pump. Some benefits other than larger nipples? Continuous lactation for one. While many women are lacating, they do not have a menstrual cycle. Also, the sucking of the nipple tightens a woman's uterus, which has many benefits such as stronger orgasms, a firmer abdomen, and tighter vaginal muscles/muscle control. About a year ago, 13 years after I finished breast feeding my youngest child, I began pumping my breasts again. I pump them twice a day, when I wake up and before dinner. My nipples are a half inch long now, when not aroused and even slightly longer when they are aroused. They have been that way for quite some time, and it feels wonderful! Two months after starting the pumping process, I stopped having periods. When I orgasm, it comes on unbelievably strong, and I am even able to reach an orgasm solely by nipple stimulation. My nipples can withstand great amounts of abuse now [:D] and techniques that used to cause a great deal of pain, now cause even more arousal instead. They are more sensitive to a point, but tougher at the same time. So, nipple stretching the old fashioned way has many benefits some don't think about.

Nipple streching I have seen done with suction and rubber bands also.

I personaly am not a fan of nipple rings, but on some people they do look "nice".

I DO like the pointey nipples sticking through the shear silk blouse or a sweater though [:D]

what about making nipples longer without piercing them?

Slipstreme -> RE: NIPPLE STRETCHING (3/28/2006 12:14:56 AM)

just out of curiosity, does anyone know the difference in pain from a 14 guage than a 16 guage piercing? I am planning on getting nipple piercings, and although I've been finding I can take a heck of a lot of pain, I also know I usually go into something like that a coward. Thanks.

milkingpup -> RE: NIPPLE STRETCHING (3/28/2006 12:28:33 AM)

there is also more information under health and safty on stretching.
