Until you have a collar around their neck or they have otherwise indicated your ownership over them.. you have no right to "assign, expect or require" anything of them. They are not yours to control or punish.

I think you need to understand that "YOU" don't decide what stage your in..... It is a "We" (as those in the relationship) decides what stage we are in.  Granted we can communicate our individual perception of what stage I want to be in, but we don't advance unless it is agreed by all.  "Take all to make a relationship work... only takes one to bring it to an end"
