Is an actor still an actor without a part, is a Dr still a Dr without a patient, and on and on?
Of course they are; the actor will say they are "resting". The Dr "off duty" and the Dom/me if they have any sense, "searching".

If I do not own, I am still a Dominant.  I am not an owner if I dont have someone, and I dont particularly think of myself as a Mistress even when I do own. Angel calls me Goddess, which were I not with him I would never be again I am sure.  But it is al semantics.  I am dominant by personality, anything else depends on who is calling me, when and why.

I have always considered myself a Dominant. When my slave deepened from her training collar to her slave collar and I owned her mind, heart, body and soul then she was allowed to call me Master for I felt as her Master. I had Mastered the elements of her soul and she is mine.

What she said :)   Isn't that what I have been saying?
While I do see my self as a Dominant female.. Ijust don't see myself as a Mistresse right now.

I think what makes a man a Master is something that goes beyond him just owning a slave.  It's about him owning Mastery-like skills. I suppose  it's all how you want to look at it. You  mentioned a violinist is not a violinist if there is no violin... but what if  the violinst gets her violin stolen - is she no longer a violinist until she purchases a new one?

Precisely. What we are prevails within us because we contain it, not because we are defined by what validates from the outside.

Straight up and for my house ... I am DUCHESS to most everyone.  I'm also the Domme in my home.  When I have a slave in house and she/he is owned by me ... I am their Mistress, but prefer Ma'am when being addressed by the slave.  In short ...

If you are a slave/sub-less Domme, then you are Mistress to no one.  But ... you're still a Domme.  It doesn't change the setup of who you are inside, just the decoration of your surrounding life ... temporarily.

Hope that made sense.  I don't get caught up in what I am in other people's eyes ... I know what I am in the eyes of those that matter.

Awhile back, I have responded to a thread here with something about not being a master/sse if you don't have a slave.

My LTR buddy of 10 years requested a release ("I need to stop this and move on to my next stage in life").

Well, I'm here to tell you that while I am still a dominant personality, I do not consider myself a Mistresse right now.   Must like a violinist can't be a violinist without a violin.  ( and damn, I miss my violin)

I'm still a female when I don't have a male partner.
I'm still a paramedic when I'm not in the back of an ambulance.
Likewise, I'm still a dominant Mistress when I don't have a specific partner.
It's a state of mind just as much as it is a physical existence.

Bear in mind I am just having fun with the typo, don't be POed, I couldn't resist.

NO, you cannot call yourself a "salve" at any time, I'm sure there is a salve rule somewhere...lol.

You are a Master/Dom wether you have someone in your care or not. The only title that I find to be connected to having someone beneath you is owner.

For me, I can't be a Mistress without a slave.  I can be a Dominant, but it ain't the same.

I am sorry about your violin. :(

I may be a "Master" without a slave if I've been awarded that title by an associated group or club (thinking of when one earned their leathers and title) - however I'm not "her" "Master" or "Owner" unless I am owning/mastering someone.

I think it's the difference between title, how you earned it and where you are at.

Nice to see you here, Amayos.

Regards,
EO
