I just caught this thread.   These are not actual rules...they are policies and proceedures, or in lifestyle terms protocols to follow mostly.   I actually hate seeing these things, or when some sub shows me what they want to live by.  I've said this before I have only 7 rules for slaves in my house.  4 of which I have to follow as well.  One of the three for the slaves is if I don't follow one of the 4 main ones and break it so can you, and you can tell me about it. 
I will admit while I was off and taking care of my dying grandfather last year and part of this year.  I did have a lot of time on my hands, and did finally write out my own house philosophy, rules, policy, proceedures, etc. and make a little book of it.  I will admit that it is much easier when I can just go look at it and say this is what I want...LOL.  Because I wrote it down one night so I could remember it.  These rules though are just silly, as they say nothing about the dominant and who they really are.
For instance one of my major rules is do not make a promise you cannot keep.  As I hold a promise to be very dear and honorable...this means that when a sub/slave makes one to me or another it should be the same for them if they are a part of my house.  I would much rather have them say "I will try with all my heart to do as you asked mistress", rather than "I promise mistress".  So that when they do make a promise or I make one to them they will know I will not go back on it.  This tells someone about my ideals and how I think and live life, and its more than just a rule of the house.
