Lordskitten -> Large collar's (10/21/2006 4:40:06 PM)

Does anyone have any links to websites that deal in tasteful "everyday jewelry" that can be used as a collar for large necks?  I've been doing google searches but i guess i'm just either really bad at browsing the web or there are none to be found :(  Most places that i find that even offer collars are the 'scene' collars and cant be worn in public with out some .....notice.

Something in sterling silver would be best, as well as sizes that go up to 20 inches.  But i'd be willing to take a look at any links.  Thank you!!

The nice thing about a chain type collar that looks like a necklace is that an extender can be used with it.  Talk to the jeweler, a lot of times the chain can actually be extended with chain that looks the same.  I keep several sizes of extenders that can be added to different necklaces so that i can have different lengths without having to purchase more jewelry which of course would be a horrible hardship LOL.

Go to a local pet store and find the leather dog collars for larege breeds.  Cheap and they look nice..as well as collars in many colors.

www.Leathercellar.com she does custom work at a reasonable price if you don't see what you want in the 'store' and her work is good quality.

If you're just looking at ordiary jewelry, All you need is an ordinary jeweler. Any jewelry store worth their salt will have chains up to 36". Good jewelry stores are happy to either make you something longer or order something longer. Unless you're looking for lifestyle symbols, basic chains are easy to find. Go to google and put in silver chains 20" or something similar...or hell, try ebay.

Most malls have a store that sells neckless and braclett chains by the inch. I have seen some nice chokers/collars made from the wide braclett chains.

Also check on ebay.

They measure 16 inches -- the person was looking for 20 inches!

Tiffany and Co will do custom sizing on their sterling tag, lock and heart pieces, but you must go into the store to arrange it.

Silver from Tiffany's is classy.

the eternity collars are so amazing. I love them so darn much but if you e-mail me I can make a chainmaille collar in a variety of styles, thicknesses, lengths, metals, and clasp types. Something for everyone and in every price range. see my profile for some ideas.
