What would You consider the specs to be for the best dungeon/play room, if money were no object and You only had a floor space that limited You to 12' X 12' [365.8cm X 365.8cm], ceiling height the same?
What would be the most important equipment content and how would You prioratise equipment purchase?
Not so much interested in decor, though would be interesting to see the many faceted mind of the Dom/me.
Just interested in the layout and content, if You would indulge Me?

Cross attached to one wall, horse and/or spanking bench which are mobile and can be moved out of the way when necessary can just be in the middle of the room, several eye hooks attached to beams in the ceiling, boat cleats attached to the wall opposite the cross, the third wall would be outfit with a large peg board to hold toys etc. A tall cabinet in one of the corners to hold items which can't go on the peg board (sharps containers, needles, first aid kit, butt plugs, wand, etc) and since I'm assuming one of the walls will have a doorway for entry, I'd put my stereo/entertainment center against that wall for music/candles/aromas. I'd keep a standing cage in one of the other corners and store the swinging chair in the cabinet until it was needed.

That would get me started.

Money is no object, in order of importance. And, decor that leads to ambiance is important...scening to firelight has a total different feel to it than under fluorescent. Off the top of my head:

24'x24’ and 10' ceilings, min. plus extra 10'x10' storage room.

Eyehook restrains in the center of the ceiling. This allows for use of a 6' whip...on all sides, plus leaves room for the furniture that's up close to the walls. It also allows for suspension bondage (if the eyehooks are BOLTED into the beams).   In fact, I want eyehooks all over the ceiling…might as well do them about every 2 feet.

Several crosses...I prefer freestanding. They can be put in the corners. Make sure the foot rest is wide enough for size 13 men's shoes. Have one cross that's made for short people and one that's made for tall people. I even know a Pro who has a spinning one! It might even still be for sale.

At least one futon against one wall with tables...like a sitting area for people to watch. Decently comfortable folding chairs, too.

Adjustable spanking bench.   Massage Table

Storage cabinets...in fact, just put in a kitchen area complete with stove and frig. Make sure you have lots of first aid stuff and fire extinguishers.

Killer stereo/video (including live) multimedia center.   A cage that long enough to lay in and tall enough to sit in. The padding for the floor is removable.

Fireplace.

It's own heating/cooling system.

Different levels of lights...fluorescent brights, incandescent on dimmers, wall sconces and lamps.

Heated floor that won't absorb body fluids (like grout sometimes can) and is easily scrubbed.

I guess I should just post my pics of my dungeon.... but I am not sure if and how I can do that.

but... frankly...what you put in it.... is directly relate to what you enjoy doing.

KOM,

If you have an account on photobucket, you can post your pics there, then just provide the link. I'd love to see it!

http://photobucket.com is free and you can set up an account fairly quickly if you don't already have one.

Fabulous dungeon, KoM! Even in just photos, the place has a truly enticing atmosphere. I'm surprised you and your ladies find any time to post given that space.[;)]

This is a great question...
For me the ideal room would be just what you've got - a 12 by 12 with nothing in it....
I have a black duffle bag containing ropes and assorted goodies with a Dr. Seuss - Bartholomew and the Oobleck patch sewn on the side.... so...

An empty room with a black bag... Also an eye in the center of the room in the ceiling for suspension.

Equipment doesnt really do it for me... In my opinion - equipment lacks character - Im sorry - It lacks humanity...
I get the most out of the one to one - human to human experience than the clumsy, noisy, giant eyesores... You can always bring something in if you need it - a chair - a sawhorse... whatever...

I dont mind using equipment from time to time is sub so desires - however - my ideal environment? A concrete 12 by 12 bomb shelter and a black bag.... No finer feeling than walking into a blank canvas...
