I am not sure this is reall relevent to this website, but i was wondering, can you have nipple peircings while breast feeding?

UKDoctor -> RE: Nipple peircings (10/27/2006 1:16:01 PM)

I have done hundreds of nipple piercings, and my wife 'The Nurse' has her nipples pierced. She breast-fed each of our children for at least six months. The rings were removed before feeding, of course! As long as a good hygiene regimen is used, there wouln't be any adverse effects on either infant or mother. A useful tip is to replace metal jewellery with silicone bars - as the nipples become more engorged and sensitive, these pliable bars reduce discomfort whilst wearing a bra.

Yes, you can. Take the jewelry out while feeding, else you might give the child a metal fetish *grin*, but there's nothing wrong with having an extra hole or two there. I agree with UKDoctor about the alternative jewelry, as well.

Well, how hard is it to take the jewelry out? i have rings in them, but i will most likely get barbells as soon as they are completely healed (i am not pregnant right now lol)

Well I will give a different response. Just to let you know I am paranoid about breasts and nipples and the impact different things may have on them. ( I have my nipples pierced but am way past being able to be pregnant though, so not an issue for me).

However, I wouldn't have nipple piercings while breast feeding, all those milk ducts, possibility of infection etc etc etc...just me being paranoid I guess...but hey [:)]

Just remeber if there is any infection in the wounds one can not breast feed, would not want to posion the baby. As for how hard they are to take out, once healed i dont imagine them to be mutch harder to take out than a normal earing.
