Considering that more than a few Dominants can say that They have fallen prey to the cleverly worded profile of a potential submissive who was in a dire strait and yet felt 'drawn' to Them and more than willing to do anything to be closer to Them if provided with a place to crash and get themselves together....i have to go with Ms. Quivver in regards to playing with Hell's favorite poster boy.

Sure, there are people who stare into the abyss and swear before all gods and their favorite aunt Pearl that if something comes along, ANYthing or ANYone, they will jump in with both feet and sing glory all the way through. I missed the link to the Dr's conversation. I only read the news story. As a reader, my confusion was with the layout of the story, not that the guy might have been into BDSM. I couldnt figure out how the two of them ended up together. I almost thought it said the town rounded her up and put her with him. Thats where I was coming from when I read it. Im always on the lookout for how gov. agencies screw up. And thats kinda what I was reading into it.

As a "vanilla" reader I was totally NOT hung up on the BDSM parts you seem to think were so clear. He seemed like a nut case, not some practioner of some discipline. Give the Vanilla world some credit for having some brains please.

It is my understandin gthat tose types of laws were put there to avoid having persons that were abused to not have to be strong enought o have to press charges the law is that you cannot consent to be assaulted. and that is the rules... so that is why sooo many abused people go with the i fell excuse... there abusers are very knowing that if the abused says that they were struck then somone will come forward and basically futher bully them trying to get them to press charges..think about it... an abuse survivor getting bullied just minutes after being struck abusively and probabkly in a bullying manner...the law is put there to protect those that just do not have the emotional fortitude to do it for themselves...now if they would have that inplace for children that i wold love to see...for some reason whne it comes to parent child things one solitary bruise that is in a seen spot isnt good enough to have the child protected....please do not try to tell me other wise...I lived it!

you may be a "vanilla" reader but you know a little about our lifestyle. at least you know it's consensual but there's a lot of "vanilla" people that doesn't understand that. for them this sicko and BDSM Masters are the same and they are unable to understand the diference basically because they can't (and they don't want to) understand that slavery can be consensual.

wow, right before halloween too.. shivers.. poor homeless girl.. glad she made it, wonder if anyone met with him that he met on line, and thinks he is a good dom LOL.. kidding ... but, didn't ever report the incident.. or were not sure wearing a collar, being beat in a door way, performing sex acts on command, and calling one Lord and or Master... was something out of the ordinary in bdsm... for someone from a bdsm personals site.. being homeless, not into bdsm, i bet could be traumatic.. like, i gotta do this to get a roof over my head...

many that call themselves a master or a domtend to take advantage of the subs that try to please them. i find it totally out of the true context of what this lifestyle is all about and any sub or self styled slave should never do anything that is beyond what they want - even when in the role that they choose. i feel that the ones that take advantage of the subs should be used as a sub for about a week and then they will play right. i am a dominate male and i am totally disgusted with some of the doms that claim their experience which many have gained from just eatching movies

I understand the possibility of someone seeing the section where he demanded to be called "lord and master" and connecting it to BDSM. But from my point of view, I don't think the general public will see this as D/s situation.

The article was clearly not written as a way to denegrate the lifestyle. No mention of BDSM at all. For this reason, I don't think that it would be fair to say, in my opinion, that this will be a problem for people in the lifestyle.

Personally, I think we should be looking at legislation.
