This is a disclaimer I use all too often. This is fiction in the first person. I use the first person because it is a more immediate feel. It is not autobiographical. It is fiction, or fictional:).
She wanted to take me to the Fetish Flea Market. I owned a collar but no leash. She ordered me to buy a leash, and "oh, some rope for the night before."
At Wal-Mart in the pet supplies they did not have the chain type leashes, and they had plastic coated clothesline. At K-Mart they had the right stuff. I went to the check out.
Then I met my ex-wife. We chatted about the kids, semi-politely. Then she saw what I was buying.
"You don't have a dog, and I know you got the gas dryer. Why do you need clothesline," she stage whispered. "Oh you pervert it is to tie you up with, and some pervert woman will lead you around on a leash!"
The teenage girl at the register giggled and a middle age woman came over and rang me up.
"Perverts," she said under her breath but clear enough to be over heard, "do not belong in my store."
"If I wanted your opinion I'd ask you for it," I said. "And even though it is as much of your business as Rosie O'Donnell's lesbian relationship with Laverne on your commercials was mine, let me tell you the leash is for John Clarkson of maintenance who has a dog. My gas dryer broke. My ex-wife here hates me; and you proved why Wal-Mart is so much busier than this store. I'll be glad when you are out of business. Now ring me up, 'lady' so I can never waste my money on things that Wal-Mart sells cheaper than K-Mart."
She rang me up. I won't be going to K-Mart soon. I don't know why I care, but I hope she thinks I'm pissed not ashamed.
