ruffnecksbabygir -> Bondage/Kneeling Numbness (2/1/2005 6:58:14 AM)

during a session with Master this last Sunday He tied ropes around my ankles, and i was in a kneeling position for a while...my legs became totally numb, they were completely asleep....the problem is it's now Tuesday and the top of my left foot still feels numb, the sensation hasn't gone away....is this at all normal?

A few years back I had a similar incident but it involved my hand. My circulation was fine but apparently the restraints had put pressure on a nerve. I had an area on my hand that was numb for about a month. When you "damage" a nerve sometimes it is very slow to come back. I would have to think that it probably had more to do with the restraint than the kneeling as this is a different kind of numbness than if a body part "goes to sleep".

Thanks for the reply : )

Yes, that makes sense, specially since it feels like it's the skin that's numb, it's strange, i just hope it goes away already! ugh.... i am not use to such rough play, and although i enjoy it very much it is really putting strains on my body, i am in very bad shape, so everything just tears me up....i have knots inside my breasts from breast play, i have major scalp pain from hair pulling, and now this lol...geeez, i feel like an 80 yr old right now...~shakes her head in shame~[&o]

The rope as well as the position you were in placed too much pressure on a nerve. I have no idea how tight the bonds were - but it's very important to alert your Dom as soon as you feel any kind of stress on a joint - numbness, tingling, pins and needles - so he can adjust your position, loosen the rope etc.

If you are not in good shape, it would probably be wise to forgo the rope and use leather restraints with a wider cuff. For prolonged bondage - and/or activities that may add stress to the joints - rope is probably just not a good idea. If he LOVES rope - he needs to make sure that you are supporting in such a way that those vulnerable joints of yours are not placed under undue stress.

pressure on knees causes even without ropes use folded towel or pad

try having him put folded washcloths between your skin and the rope. that way it doesn't become too tight, and you don't have rope burns.

I don't think any play should leave lasting damage. It sounds to me like you need to talk to your dom about this and maybe he can lighten up some or change his technique. JMHO.

There is also a responsibility, I believe, on the part of the sub to let the Dom/me know if there is an issue like that arising. Ultimately, the Dom/me needs to be aware of the safety of the sub.

Be well,
Julie

Personally, if I were to have kept My girl that long kneeling/bound and it caused a seemingly lasting issue like this, I would expect her to inform Me quickly.

why? because, while it could go away in a few more days, it is My responsibility to keep her from harm such as that especially if it comes from My not seeing harm done to her especially from My actions and if I dont see that I have done the harm I absolutely need to know so its not repeaed or worse compounded. pain being part of O/our experiences it should not last nor should numbness like that. nerves can take time to return to normal when stretched beyond thier limits and/or damaged. to this day I have little sensation in two of My fingers from what was a minor nerve injury some 16 years ago. if it were to continue not only could it hamper further encounters and experiences but also simply cause an alteration of physical lifestyle from lack of mobility due to the loss of sensation. this sounds like a small thing but if repeated it could grow more and more.

just this Ones 2 cents worth.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply, actually thanks to all for the replies.....my Master didn't have me in the same position for "too" long, it wasn't the amount of time but rather the fact that i'm not use to it and i'm not in the best shape.....but like i said, i believe it's actually a pinched nerve, the ropes weren't too tight, He is very experienced and knows what He is doing, also He is very attentive to me at all times....but my weight leaning on that foot i guess is what did it...it doesn't feel quite as numb anymore, but the skin on the top of my left foot doesn't have much sensation, feels numb.
