I am allergic to latex. A few rounds with safe sex practices revealed that. About a year ago I purchased a silicone 'life like' dildo. EVERY single time that toy is used in play I burn afterwards and there is a weird 'smell' about me. Needless to say it is not used often. Only when my Alpha feels I need to have my 'limits' stretched. Kind of embarrasing to bring it up to the ol doc. So I wanted to gain some insight and some borrowed gumption before I do

We use safe suds to clean it
Astro to lube it
and it is kept in a little cotton bag in the dresser

While having an allergy to both latex and silicone can be a problem, have you looked into the possibility that it may be the lubricant? Most condoms come with them. I personally haven't had any experience with those kind of allergies but you may just wish to get metal/glass toys.

It could be the soap,the lube or the toy itself.
I have a very sensitive "flora" I have to use hospital type sterile lube,or I will break out.I have to use certain types of toys,glass is the best for not breaking out but I dont find them to be a great toy.
It really sucks as its pretty much trial and error on whether I will have a reaction.
I have tried using condoms on toys and I have had reactions from those even the non latex type.I dont normally get too personal,but as its a health issue,I have had reactions to semen,had no pain during sex but the minute that stuff touched Me I was in agony.The only thing the doc can figure is that I just have issues with allergies and a senstive "flora"...What a nice word Flora

I use a plain water douce if I have any type of reaction,the Doc said to not use anything but plain water.

I would try to isolate the cause. Ask your physician and be honest about your issues. If you only use lube with no other anything touching you, do you have the same reaction? If you use the dildo without lube do you get the same reaction?

If it is the dildo and not the lube, I would second the glass suggestion. They are a little more expensive but they also are really easy to clean and they look cool.

thanks so far. Alpha is washing it today with plain ivory and warm water to make sure there is no safe suds cleaner or anything else on it.

She wants to get to the 'bottom' of this... ha ha cause there is more training to be had shortly. While pushing limits is one thing, making me sick or aggravating a known condition post training is not on her list of things to do.

*contented sigh*

Having a latex allergy and playing with some of the similar toys without a problem, I'd be more apt to vote lube. Do you have issues with the lube without playing with that particular toy?

One of the advantages of silicone dildoes and plugs is that you can sterilize them by boiling. That should take care of any odor problem as well.

It's most likely the toxic chemicals that the toys is made of. You may want to try using a condom with it...not latex of course if you are also allergic to that. We have had several threads on this subject....here is a link to one that you may want to check out.
