Sounds like your Sir and I have a lot in common... it will take a little time and practice for you to get the feel for it though. Just don't be fearful of your lack of experience.
Take his nipple betwen your index finger and thumb.. gently squeeze or pinch.. small tug and release motion. Double check with him. i.e. Do you wish for me to do that harder Sir? Hopefully your Master permits you to ask questions such as these. Because it's important to get feedback from him, if he punishes you for being too hard. Generally I enjoy this as part of body worship, I don't know about your Sir though. I know, I love to feel my stomach and chest being caresses and kissed along with nipple play and oral service.
I'm a bit of a Masochist, if a submissive pinches too hard for my liking.. I am very Quick to express it. I'm really vocal when it comes to telling one what I want done, How it's making me feel, and what to do next. Some Doms are not so vocal, so you may have to feel it out by asking questions. I know one thing, I myself have never punished one for lack of experience that was trying hard to please me. The last thing I want is for her to become fearful of messing up and facing punishment.
If you are having issues, you could simply express to your master that you are fearful from your lack of experience and fearful of unintentionally fucking up and getting punished for it.
When your Master requests for you to do the same thing he does with you, he might not realize this includes the same kind of pain you feel from his own play! LOL... I suspect this is in part what is getting you into hot water with him and confusing the living hell out of you. Perhaps you yourself have a higher tolerence for pain compared to him as well. These are all things to take into consideration.
