Okay, I got one:

My new slave has sciatica (spelling) problems because she's an RN and, well you get the picture. Anyway, when we scene, she often complains about her right butt cheek really bothering her because of the caning, flogging, or whatever I use to hit her there. The only thing which doesn't affect her is the single tail but I understand why because it's a different type of impact on her muscle.
My question is, what do I do?

Any advice, hopefully reasonable ones, will be appreciated.

May you all be happy,
ZM

Zen
suggest to her to look into having a percutanious discectomy
which should releave the pain which actually sounds like a
nerve ending to spine problem she is having. have her discuss
this with a spinal surgen at her job.
also if it is relitive to one side only it could be that sides disc
related and there could be sum inner scarring that could
be laying on the nerve endings leading to the spine which
could be the culpret. Id suggest that untill she checks with
the spine doc to lay off the type spankings that cause lasting
pain with out pleasure and stick to what gives the non lasting
pain till it is looked into further and her being a nurse should
know this as well. Spine injurys usually are perminant so dont
want to make worse whats allready dammaged, right ZEN? ~SMILES~

Find another target area? There are plently of interesting places to safely do impact play, if that's your thing. And there are many interesting alternatives to impact play, as well.

Until the physical problem is dealt with (see a doctor, because sciatica can be treated), modify your play so that you don't do additional damage.

I have a similar problem (although my pain is in both my hips) and I found that going to a chiropracter greatly reduces and eventually eliminates the pain. It takes time, but it may be a cheaper and less painful alternative to surgery (at least mine was).

I'm almost afraid to ask what "unreasonable" advice would be. lol

As Sherri said, Sciatica can be treated without surgery, but it would be wise to lay off that area until it is, and she is recovered, so as to avoid any additional damage. However, that really depends on whether or not it is Sciatica, and what the treatment is/whether or not surgery is required.

Whatever the case, I would recommend getting it seen to as soon as possible and avoiding that area in "play" altogether for now. Again, as Sherri said, there are plenty of other areas for impact play.

Lower back spinal cord/disk injuries which cause pain, burning and numbness in the hips and below in legs and feet are difficult to self-diagnose. The painful and irritating sensations felt are just those... sensations in the affected area, and not the injury causing the sensations being felt elsewhere. Sciatic nerve damage and slipped, herneated and ruptured disks, especially free disk fragments floating in the spinal column are all lower back injuries (but felt elsewhere in uninjured areas).

Selecting an alternate "impact play spot" away from the affected area(s) should exclude the lower back, which is usually the actual area of injury.

Has it been diagnosed professionally as sciatica?
First, before taking any advice from anyone who hasn't seen her, she needs to see a doctor to get a reliable diagnosis.
In the meantime avoid that area during play, there are other places to play with until you know for sure that you won't be causing any further damage to her sciatic nerve (which runs diagnally across the buttock, but she knows that anyway, she'll have done enough enough injections to know the quarter routine..lol)

How about no playing at all until she finds out from a doctor what is wrong with her? Seems to be the sensible way to go.

There is an alternative to surgery. Look into finding a chiropracter that is familiar with A.R.T~ Active Release Techniques. I know a couple people that have tried it for ther sciatic problems and were very pleased with the results.

I've got to agree w/ Estring . . . STOP playing altogether and find out exactly what's causing the problem with your slave. (healthy slaves are much more fun) . . . see 2 doctors and if their opinions don't agree, see a third. unless, of course, the T/two of you 'want' to share a potentially permanent physical impairment in your relationship.

I have had really good results with chiropractic care, but I know many people who have not. I came to the conclusion (my opinion here) that chiropractic deals with the skeletal alignment, but if the muscles are messed up they will pull the skeletal structure out of alignment at their earliest convenience.

To make a long story even longer, I would suggest you do the following.

a) Get a good referral to a qualified doctor specializing in back/spine and go.

b) Get a good referral and go to a good chiropractor.

c) After getting their recommendation, sign up and diligently attend a good yoga / aerobics / or other movement-type exercise program. The more you build up the muscle tissue, the less you rely on the (relatively difficult to repair or build up) skeleton and ligaments which keep things together.

Good luck :)
