Hi, all

A submissive of mine asked me the other day to suffocate her until she lost consciousness. I told her that was above a level I felt comfortable with and would have to read up more on the safety behind it.  Any reading selections you would recommend, or advice in this regard?

Very dangerous for her and for you. If anything bad happens, most juries won't believe that she asked you to do it.

I am neither advocating nor advising against Asphyxia Play.  My sole reason for posting was to help educate within the community.

Even though, I have practiced forms of breathplay and bllodflow reductions, I no longer do, and I actively advise against it.
  The effects are accumulatve and non-reversible. That might aid an incompetent or uncaring control freak to control his victim, but, I'd rather advise the potential victims by using anecdotal and scientific / medical evidence and risk censure at the hands of those that practice without knowledge and expect Me to be PC.
  Brain damage is a serious affliction and not being reversible should forewarn any of the curious about trying it. Having met some folks that have practiced it in the past, I can warrant you that their partners recovery goals will never be successful beyond their present state of mind.
  The kidneys are two other organs that can suffer from breathplay, and so is an unexpected atrophy of the heart, aneurysms and/or mini-strokes, which would do accumulative damage, too, might also be a sideeffect of breath and vessel play.
  It's to freakin' dangerous and I would hope that being forewarned might influence your practices and play be planned to exclude it.

I've always been very careful with it, tending to go for the illusion of a girl feeling choked than actually choking her.  I tend to hold her neck firmly, as opposed to collapse her trachea, because of those health concerns.  Any further seems too much for me.

We do breathplay quite regularly, as well as teach classes on it.  I think that the safety risks versus emotional/physical rewards are too lengthy to go into here, but I would be happy to answer any specific questions you have.  Feel free to contact me on the other side.

My line of work is directly with folks who suffer anoxic injuries, primarily folks who DIE as a result.

I'd really strongly advise against your taking up doing neck compression and carotid sinus massage without actual medical training.  And even then, the risk of knocking off plaque into the compressed arteries, even for a medical professional, is tremendously high.  (http://www.collarchat.com/m_566286/mpage_1/key_carotid%252Csinus%252Cmassage/tm.htm#583301 gives a little bit of detail on CSM.)

There are more "risk-aware" methods that would include hand-over-mouth or the use of rebreather devices.  Neither of these cross the trachea or involve critical vasculature, however, they still retain the high risk factors of anoxic brain injury, cardiac arrhythmia due to hypoxia and associated complications.

If we even hear of a doc who is not beyond residency doing carotid sinus massage on a patient in my hospital, the news is met with gasps.
The brain can be quite unforgiving. Trust me on this one.

If you arent comfertable doing it DONT no matter how much reading you do it isnt going to make it safe and beeing uncomfertable about it will make it down right DANGEROUSE so please if this isnt your forte` and you dont feel comfertable and safe doing it then please tell her that becasue like others have said no one is going to beleave she asked you to do it if something bad happens!!

I have to agree with most everyone else.  I know people who are into breath play.  You really have to know what you are doing then even if you do one slip and you're in prison the rest of your natural life.
Is it worth the risk for a roll in the hay?
