No, Bag Balm is a salve for healing... linament is a substance used (in my case, at least) to treat muscle soreness in my horses.  People use it on their legs, etc. for muscle conditions.  It has a very cooling effect... almost like Icy Hot but it's not as goopy [:D]

Lots of people use icy hot and ben gay as well as cinnamon..and most anything else you can think of.
They all burn very badly and go away in time.

i'm pretty sure i read something about how the stuff used on horses is not good long-term on people...maybe once or twice, but not all the time. i can't find the article that related that, but i will continue to look and let you know if i find it. if anyone knows of such an article, i would be very grateful if they posted it here or im'd me, because now i am getting antsy to find it :P

Muay Thai kickboxers use a thai linament every fight, between rounds.  It works to sooth sore muscles, like icy hot, but also numbs a little bit, like lidochane.  I talked to my thai boxing kru about it (if using it too much is bad, and if you could use other places besides your legs) and he said it's fine.  It's made from thai herbs and spices, no chemicals and so on.  I've used it in play with a male sub on his testicals and under arms, and it left no rash, just a little redness afterwards, or was that my fault?  Anyway, you should be able to get it in any "Chinatown" or any boxing/kickboxing gym.

Awesome!  Thank you [:D]  I'm not sure if it's the sensation or the fact that I have horses and he wants to be my pet that drove him to ask me about it... I guess we'll find out *wicked grin*

Bag balm is actually for cows.  When their udders get rashes it is used on it.  Soothes the rash and makes it nicer when they get milked.

Not sure what you mean specifically. DMSO is a common horse linament or additive but I would not think it would be suitable for play. Many people do use it for muscle soreness and arthritis but it is not a chemical that one should handle lightly. When using it you must make sure that your hands and the area you are using it on are exceptionally clean and after application the area should be covered. DMSO is absorbed very rapidly and increases the rate of absorption of some compounds by organic tissue (such as your skin) and has the ability to "suck" anything on your skin or in your immediate environment in.

Why do you use something in play that numbs the area?
