This made me laugh as well - although I like to try and uphold some of the ideals (family wise) of yesteryear, I'm too much of a horndog (Master's words) to be like that...

I recall my Gramma and Grampa slept in different beds. Gramma said it was because she needed to sleep on a board and Grampa didn't. I also recall her telling me that her and Grampa only slept together 'for procreation'... She thought to do so any more was against God's will. Sexual relations are only for procreation, I believe, were her words... :)

Thank you for that, I enjoyed it!

I had to send this to Himself. He said it explains perfectly why his first marriage failed.

His ex-wife read this and followed it to a T.

I am pretty sure sexuality ebbed and flowed according to how much time people spent on their home life.
Forget donna reed's 50s stuff.   Peg Bundy was always horny!
LOL.. but come to think of it, she was a stay at home wife too, wasnt she?

Yeah, you and I both.

My Dom said this kind of stuff is probably why people are so confused about sex stuff now (and or guilt/shame ridden)- and that he's glad I just laugh at it- it would be kind of boring otherwise! (Anyway, I live with him, we sleep together, I'm naked a lot and we both really enjoy most of these things that we should not. Living in sin? YES PLEASE!!!)

Yeah, that is exactly where I found this piece.  In fact, the other topic titled 50's is originally a mock up advertisement that someone added text to at a later time.  There may be some basis for the idealised household that was added to the picture, BUT as yet no one can find a text book that has that sort of guidance.

These things are composites to point out how "improved" society has become.  Nillas might view the 50's household in horror and feel grateful for their new lives.  And "we" might view that 50's stuff as "the way things ought to be".

In fact, no matter what time, era, decade, century we live in, people have always been people.  That idealised chit is not something that can easily be sustained.  Eventually emotion will show, and keeping that stifled so your mate will not have any added burden on his hard day is unrealistic.

I put this 1890's mockery up because I wanted to point out that people need to find their own comfort.  And not to look back with fondness and envy for a world that never was.  My parents lived the 50's and though it MAY have looked traditional according to the images we saw on television, they were human.
His day affected hers.  Hers affected his.  And believe me, it was not perfection.
