Michael, this may be way off base but have you got clear goals in your life that you would like to achieve - none of this wishy washy I want to be happy stuff, but actual realistic and measureable goals eg. I would like to go out and meet one friend for coffee once a week to start with and then twice a week etc.

From reading many of your posts over time is sounds like you are experiencing a level of discomfort about your life but only you can know what is causing the discomfort and work out ways to make your life a more valued one in YOUR eyes, not talking about what others think about you, just focus on the type of person you want to be. One day your level of dicomfort may be enough of a trigger for you to commit to an action of some sort to start building a valued life for yourself.

I wish you peace and finding the more authentic you

at 44, it's not easy to continue to struggle with life and try to make things "fit" me. Happiness and contentment may have to wait until the next life.

Topcat, what was your purpose in posting those links?  I do not see any value in passing on information about how to commit suicide to possibly vulnerable/depressed people.

ditto. I and others already gave all the info of value in this situation, because we've been in it and found out that however much life sucks, suicide methods suck more and successful suicide sucks still more than that for those left behind.

Michael - you already have my invitation to talk about anything you want to on the other side, but I havent heard anything from you there for a month now. I want to and will help OK?

E

Dear alone-

While I rarely bother with people playing the suicide card, I really really abhor an inept attempt, especially if it results in a vegtable. MoG is a big boy, who has the right to determine his own course, and I support him in his research, if not his actions.

Any discussion of the topic is likely to trigger, it doesn't matter whether you include links.  Oh, and who was the op?
It's more attention seeking behavior.

Pretty much taking a lot of drugs will make your body immune to them.  Pain pills, allergy, etc.

Please don't take this wrong, but I have a bit of advice for you.  I am sorry your life sucks, but a lot of peoples lives suck for one reason or another.  A lot of us are depressed, bi-polar, etc..yet we get up everyday and find a way to get through it.

What concerns me is, that you remind me of the "cry wolf" theory.  You do it so much, that no one will really believe and try to help you if you need it.  It's a dangerous game to play.

The time that I really did do the suicide thing, I didn't say a word.  My best friend overdosed in Sept, no one knew.  I think it's either a cry for attention with you, or a cry for help.  When people do try to help you though, it doesn't seem like you take them up on it.. I suppose it's more fun to come on here and whine about it.

No therapist will make us better, unless we work on ourselves.  There are different ways to do it, but you have to wake up each day and make yourself, even if you don't want to.  There is no "magic" solution, no one can fix you, but you.

It's little steps, itty bitty ones.  It's not easy, and it takes a long time, but it is possible.  I have been in the depths myself, and no one could get me out, but me.  It took a lot of time, a lot of faith, and a lot of work.  There is no yellow brick road, there is a road of tears, of work, of struggle, but it's a road that's very possible to travel.

Take care, be well.

Kasha

is it possible to become immune to meds after repeated OD attempts?

listen to me michael - death is not easy, nor is it fun.. and nor is it what anyone says about being the "easy way out"  I cant stress that enough.  Death is the hardest, most frightening experience you will ever have.

What i would suggest in your case is to go camping.  Pack up your shit - find some woods.. bring some food.. not too much.. bring a fishing pole.. something to catch food.. make sure its near a clear stream..no cooking suppliers.. a sleeping bag.. a tent.. no soda.. none of the fineries of life..  and stay there until you find the beauty in life.

marieToo -> RE: is it possible...? (11/29/2006 7:45:25 AM)

Michael:

Clearly this is a cry for help.  Forget about suicide because thats going to leave your kids without a father.
Why dont you try to think of something proactive to move towards?  Have you considered couseling?  A support group?  An inventory of the things in your life that make you happy or unhappy and consider taking steps to change or alter those things?  The things of value are the hardest to achieve.  Don't take the easy way out and remain in a cycle of self-pity.  Take steps to help yourself.  If you lack esteem, then go to a counseler who can help you build it back up.  Then move on to the next step....even if it's a small one.  But keep moving towards solution, rather than laying stagnant and repeating "my life sucks" over and over again.  I'll probably get railed for this, because I said it yesterday on a heated thread...But, You have the control over you life,  you are not a 'victim' of circumstances, any more than anyone else.  If you don't take the wheel, the car will lead you anywhere it wants to and crash you wherever it feels like it.  You can sit back and let that happen while you wipe your tears and sing 'woe is me' or you can take control and make things happen for yourself.  It wont be easy, but its a choice that only you can make.

Hard work for a short period of time,  in order to regain happiness???   Or remain in your comfort zone forever,  in order to maintain mediocrity.

personally, i've decided the best way to die is to just go out and by a plastic toy gun - pretend to rob a store and then pull it on bunch of cops.  <grins>  You know Topcat - if it isnt your time to die.. nothing will really work.  People have survived putting a bullet hole in their head, jumping off buildings..

RiotGirl -> RE: is it possible...? (11/29/2006 7:50:38 AM)

My sound advice is to go out and make yourself MORE miserable.  You've got all the time in the world.. and you cant give any shit about "responsiblities" cos if yer dead.. well.. and since yer still alive.. who fucking cares right?  Obviously you dont give a fuck about the people around you.  So do what you want.

Go make yourself MORE miserable.  Pull a Buddha and sit under a tree for days on end and dont eat.  That'll fucking suck.

Life is PERSPECTIVE and if you think you are miserable now.. wait till you try some other things..

point being.. once you see how much more life can suck.. you might end up appreciating the life you have.

Either that or find a subway and touch the 3rd rail.  Might hurt like a bitch tho = )

er.. i'm going to go WAY off base here and say a drug habit will help temporarily and make you in the long run more miserable.  I suggest herion as it has many "happy" side effects and in the long run will make you realise what life is really worth.  Screw the doctors Med's!  And if you really are ready to off yourself.. then you should have no issue this suggestion.  hell - the sky should be the limit for you!  Try some acid.. thats always an eye opening experience.. E??  Special K was interesting.... coke just completely sucks - Xanax is fun....

Hey if you're going to be killing yourself.. you might as well have some good ol self destructive fun before hand.  Hey, if you want to like do "better" at things.. i'd say go for speed.  Something like Ice or meth.  That'll get ya going.

Of course it is.  He previously admitted he's tried to "kill himself" 32 times before.  If someone REALLY wanted to die, it wouldn't take them 32 tries to get it right.  It's clear from his posts that he doesn't want help or to put in any effort to change, he's just looking for pity and attention.

Donnalee -> RE: is it possible...? (11/30/2006 6:07:44 AM)

MoG..

Sometimes people are stuck with intractable depression and the only thing that works is ECT ("shock therapy").  It's gotten a bad rap in the popular culture, but lots of people get it now, plus it looks like you've got nothing to lose.

On the other hand, some people's lives really do suck; whether its your circumstances, world view, or simple insistance that it truely does suck.  It doesn't always get better, so  I can see why some people end it:  I imagine that I would do the same thing in some of the circumstances I've witnessed.   Not everyone is wired to make lemonade out of lemons.
