actually, given the language that they were penned in, I should transliterate it as "va" not "wa"

I'll pick something else:
Amharic
Hebrew
Arabic
Aramaic

All are Afro-Asiatic languages.

You're all warm but no one is quite there:
Sylvere:  Aramaic and Hebrew are not African but are Asiatic. Arabic is also Asiatic in origin but the dialects can be African.  Amharic is African but....
Shiver:  Jesus spoke Aramaic and may have learned Hebrew.  He would not have spoken Amharic and Arabic was still a conglomerate of dialects at that time.
Arabic is too young of a language to be "Biblical"
Hejira: Great guess but people who spoke Amhara were not introduced to the Talmud until this century.

Let me know if you guys give up ....

Uh...no. Afro-Asiatic is a linguistic family. All of those languages are branches of the Afro-Asiatic family. Google it. But if that's not the answer you're looking for, then I don't know.

Hi, they are all Semetic languages.

I knew that as the "Hamito-Semetic" language group.  I didn't know about the new term, sorry.

Here is what Wilipedia says:
The term "Afroasiatic" was coined by Maurice Delafosse (1914). It did not come into general use until it was adopted by Joseph Greenberg (1950) to replace the earlier term "Hamito-Semitic", following his demonstration that Hamitic is not a valid language family.

So, you win and I stand corrected.  Can't wait to see what you put up next!

Well, dang it!!  I know the answer, but then I'd have to come up with a new quartet, so I'll abstain & just ask how things are going for you, DC?
