While that is indeed a TRUE statement, that is not the "in common" that I had in mind.  Think RPG.

Let's see.... RPG = Report Program Generator, right?  so these are

Flat files
Free the storage
Far pointers (which were not even a physical possiblity when RPG first came out in the 60s - of last century.)

...then I got nothin' for fat.

Dear Minnesota resident (DAMN! I was tired when I made that comment.) Nope. I wrote my first computer program in 1967 while a High School Junior using Fortran on an IBM 360 mod 40.  Teletypwriter punched paper tape into the local University over external modems - you waited for the tone and shoved the hand-set into the rubberized openings...... was I into BDSM at the time? I guesss so. LOL!

Have always been a mainframer until "they" took most of them away.... well, actually until the desktops could do as much and more.  And look what's happening now (principally in the business/government world).... dumb keyboards and dumber monitors connected  thru cable/telphone lines to central processors!  Sounds like the more things they change, the more they stay the same.

<Lance repeats the quartet in a feeble attempt to apologize for what some might feel was a thread-jack.   But, MOM! Otter started it!  To which Mom replies, "I don't care.  You finish it.">

LOL-------360s.....my how time flies, most of the crap I worked on any mainframes was cobol. So once you got past the teletype at university, you did the hollerith cards and trays? PITA!!!!!!!

Yeah, back to central computers and most of this web stuff is a fancy CICS model.

<Lance yells: "MOM!  He won't let me go..... he's making me do this.... To which Mom replies, "I don't care.  Nobody can make you do anything you don't want to.">  Damn! Mom was wise!

<Lance whispers to Otter, so Mom doesn't hear: "Yes, Hollerith cards..... I still have some, oh, and a hardwired core plane.">

<Mom says: "Ahem....">

<"It's okay, Mom.... Otter's going home, so I'm just getting to my homework.">

<As he repeats the quartet, Lance whispers, "Otter, send me c-mail, if you want">

Well, i never learned RPG IV, just ALGOL, FORTRAN, MAD, COBOL and assembler.

But when Aylee said RPG, i wondered if there was another RPG.   Apparently there is a video game or something called RPG.  Research shows that RPG could also stand for Role Playing Game.  So it's out of my area of expertise if it is a gaming thing.

Some of the first Role Playing Games were on the University PDP-10's ...UNIX based.  So here is the quartet again.

Flat

Clue: RPG

for all you old geezers:

rpg /free

for I = 1 to 10 do;
I =+ 1;
enddo;

shit like that, very C/C++ like and they have weakly typed pointers (which sucks, the weakly typed shit) and subprocedures and like the old link system, what is called service programs.

enough geekspeak

Ah.... yes!  "Service programs" aka subroutines.  Now if I could just install one of those in the sub I'm training.... get it? A subroutine or better yet a service program.  <Mom!  Don't hit me, Mom.  Otter AND fluffy made me do it!>  "I told you young man, nobody can make you do anything!"  "Mom, please let go of my arm!  That hurts!"

<Lance leaves to take his meds, comes back to say:

Since RPG = something to do with gaming, I now have more nuthin' than fluff has.  I'll be back after the solution appears.  (And don't think I didn't google, 'cause I did.)

The sub/slave I am training has a 5 year old cousin.  Said cousin seems to be a Dom, because he has directed sale S.I.T. to play Super Mario endlessly.  So that's his answer that I claim for myself becuase, after all, doesn't his "production" belong to me?

Seems Mario starts out FLAT, becomes FAT, travels FAR to FREE the princess.

Well, I just skimmed the Wikipedia entry for the Traveller RPG, and I'm still clueless.

Wrong Lance.

Okay. . . I will give the answer and someone else can choose a new quartet.

They are all merchant ship types in the Traveller RPG.

Far Trader 200 ton type A2
Free Trader 200 ton type A
Fat Trader 600 ton type R
Flat Trader 1000 ton type MH
