I preferred the monkeys. Or ants.

Some people are as interesting, vulnerable and worthy as monkeys. Ants I do not prefer at all. If they stayed out of picnics, homes and biting me maybe I would like them better.

Nicholas Edward Gonzalez played a boxer in the movie Resurrection Blvd, and is also an animal rights activist

He is an actor and is an animal guy but it is not the one you mentioned.

No not Paul Newman Poise.

And not any of the ones real or imagined that EW mentioned either.

I don't want to arrive at the answer. I preferred the journey.

It had monkeys.

Monkeys are hot. Journeys are good. Arriving can be really great.

I used to be such a huge boxing fan. I recall with fondness watching the bouts between Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward and Eric Morales vs Antonio Barrera.
I remember watching Chris Byrd rise from his early days to be someone to pay attention to. Then I remember how the judging became so controversial, and I lost faith in the honesty of the sport.

This kind of leads me to my answer. The mention of Mickey Ward made me think of Mickey Rourke, and although I wouldn't have pegged him for an animal rights activist, I do remember he started out as a boxer.

Mickey Rourke....for the win.

No kids this is not it. Not England or Teri Hatcher, or things that happened in a square.

No monkey's or any sort of gorilla, orangutan or that sort of thing.

Maybe my clues are too difficult.

If I saw the clues I would know what the answer was but maybe almost no one else would?

I didnt want ya to be able to simply copy it into google and get the answer either.

Is that a banana in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

C'mon, poise.  heartcream said "No monkey's or any sort of gorilla, orangutan or that sort of thing," and then you give us a very nice lower primate joke. LOL!

Hey now  I was willing to drop the whole monkey business a few posts back. It was Mr EW (spelled correctly this time) that kept bring them up!

Yay Poise! Congratulations! Nicely done.

I came upon this article from the Times, this part of it is particularly poignant to me.

"See that? That dog is the worst. That dog is a miserable cunt. He really is. Undisciplined. This fucking dog. He doesn't listen. He annoys all the other dogs. He still shits everywhere. He jumps up when other dogs are resting. These other little dogs hate him. Everyone hates him. Look. Look at him. He's got the whole yard to play in and all he wants to do is sit there and look miserable."

"But here's the deal. I can't get rid of him. Because I took responsibility for him. He's my little dog. I'm not gonna get rid of the dog. I'm not gonna give him away. Because that's what happened to me. My mother gave me away to somebody else — who abused my brother and me for years. And if it goes on for years and years, you're better to take that person outside and put a bullet in the back of their head. Because you don't get over it. You don't get over the Halloween 3 that goes on for a decade-plus. So it's like... It would be very easy... Most people would have given this fuckiing dog away already. He's useless. But he's mine. And I love him and take care of him and I put up with his shit because I took responsibility for him. Okay? So if I ever have a kid, that's the way it would be."

I never thought of insect as animals. I thought animals were mammals, no? Lady bugs are so cute. Flies, not so much at all.
