acissej -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:27:41 PM)

That might be true, but not what I was looking for.

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:34:40 PM)

Were they all related to each other somehow? Or descendants of signers of the Declaration of Independence?

They were all elected President only once, though that may not be what you're looking for.

acissej -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:41:44 PM)

I'm not sure.  Perhaps they were, but I was going for something much simpler.

Ooops, we posted at the same time.  No, I was looking for something other than them being elected just once.

I'm trying to think of a hint that won't give it away....

Aylee -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:42:40 PM)

They were overweight?

acissej -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:45:53 PM)

Nope, not that they were overweight.

They were the only five Presidents with this commonality, but a lot of people would probably dismiss it as being meaningless.

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:46:33 PM)

Each was a journalist at some point in his career?

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 6:54:36 PM)

Each was elected in a leap year?

Still not what I was going for.  Here's a hint (which might not be very helpful): if Hillary were to become President, she could be grouped with them.

Have all your guesses been fact-based?  Because, if so, good job, but you're not hitting the mark.

The thing I'm looking for isn't something any of them had any control over.  It's tied to the first accomplishment (in a sense) of their lives.

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:02:20 PM)

No, guesses have not all been fact-based. The thing about them all be elected once is true, but that's true for other Presidents as well.

Were you five all oldest or youngest kids? Or delivered by c-section?

DemureDesire -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:03:37 PM)

They all suffered from poor health as children?

acissej -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:03:50 PM)

No, but you're getting warmer with the c-section.

No to this, too.

Sorry!  I thought I'd come up with an easy one this time.

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:05:25 PM)

Were they all delivered by midwives instead of doctors? All born at home? All breech births?

Er, no.  It has more to do with the timing of their births.

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:09:11 PM)

Well, I'm gonna mosey along. If no one solves this by the time you logout today, please post the answer and a new quartet. Thanks!

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:10:57 PM)

One last guess: Were they all born prematurely?

acissej -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:12:55 PM)

Nope.  I'll give you the answer now.  They were all Scorpios.  Since you put forward a valiant effort, do you want to provide the next group, DC?

greeneyedreamer -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/17/2008 7:13:13 PM)

they were all born in a hospital?

Well, that's very gracious of you. Thanks!

Here's a foursome I came across while trying to solve your quintet.

John Adams
Herbert Hoover
Gerald Ford
Ronald Reagan
