Depending on the age of the scars the Doc I used to work for recommended the Mederma and/or Cocoa Butter. Also Vitamin E, massage, and diligence. Gotta be on top of it all the time 2-4 times daily depending on what you end up using. But in the end honestly if these people at your wedding are close enough to you to be at your wedding, the scarring really shouldn't be much of an issue. And if after all of that you didn't make them go away enough to make you happy, then elbow length gloves are a good answer too...

You can use retinol (active Vitamin A) vs Beta Carotene (Vit A precursor) as it helps heal skin and increase cellular turnover.

You also might want to spend a few minutes every night doing a cross friction massage in a line perpendicular to the scarring daily...it helps stimulate an increase in cellular turnover of the skin & helps to break up the scar tissue itself....

Collagen is also important for supporting the skin itself...there are a number of collagen products on the market. Something else that might help is strivectin...its pricey but a lot of people swear by it to eliminate stretch marks (scarring) from pregnancy....

Hope that helps.... : )

i have had quite a lot of nip an tuck over the past 14 months. Shoot- between the bottom lift, thigh re-shape, tummy----- let's say i have more stitches in me than a king size crazy quilt and a good 10-12 ln ft of scars. i also am very much into not only alternative medicines but the less expensive "do it yourself and save."

Older scars can be more difficult. Long ago olive oil was thought to be a good way.  Thje first press vs. the last pressing?

i would have a tendency toward virgin to again 100% of what the oil has to offer.

This come from my Doctor Himself. He is a lic. professional with strong interests and knowledge of alternative healing.

Using a laser pointer and 2 horseshoe magnets end to end. Place the opening in the center of the magnets over the scar and shine the laser pointer into the opening. i was told this is a do it yourself and save alternative to going to a clinic or spa and having them do their version at about $120.00/treatment with anywhere from 12 to countless treatments possibly needed. my Doctor has a pref for a mini mag light type flash light using a certain light bulb that i cannot think of the name at the moment. He gave me a set up an said they can be purchased at like walgreens for under $10.00.

There are also cell salts and oils, componds and such. Yet possibly this above will help. i also have many times brought up the question of age spots vs scars to various medical people. Basic idea? If a discoloration such as an age spot can be removed by using the various OTC bleaches and peroxides? Can the discoloration of a scar be treated i  the same manner?  So far only "wow what a great question leeli-i really do not know"  Nor do i am  afraid.

Fresh/new scars need 2-3 weeks of healing before any treatment is done to them. If all else fails a beautiful, delicate pair of lace gloves? Or make up made for scars. Either way it is your special day and my warmest wishes and congrats. for a long and happy union.
