I voted maybe. I wish that newbies would search a topic and then add to an old thread rather than starting a new one on an old topic. But i understand that many aren't even aware of the search feature. I am happy to read new ideas and insight on old topics, but do get tired of the same posts in different words over and over again, i.e. sub vs. slave definitions.

I have always been uncertain whether this is considered acceptable. Some boards discourage "grave digging" and the moderators make clear that they would rather see new, and therefore shorter, threads.

I said no. Not because they don't offer valuable information. Because a lot of people have specific questions they may like to ask. Which might not have been brought up at an earlier date. There is something to be said about real time communication. As real time as we can get here anyway.
Also, people tend to respect certain poster's on the board's. Well, what if the poster was not around at the time? The advice might not be given a second glance.
It keeps the boards fresh and new when we post new questions even if we do get tired of the same old ones every week.

I said no as well. I agree with Glolria, it keeps the boards fresh. And gives those that weren't around a chance to post as well. A link can always be given to an old post.

Take care,

Re~hash old postings

I think the name to this post is biased.

Old posts have just as much good information in them for the masses as do the new posts and anyone whom runs a site knows that if a post has allready been addressed if its brought up to be seen by the newbies will relinquish much new items being reposted repeatedly and rehashed over and over again saving bandwith. JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION.

The "SEARCH" function is your best friend....... provided you know what you are looking for.

Master is a mod on a reef aquarium board. He complains about a hundred "re-post" on subjects every week, but he usualy just deletes them, and makes people search unless there was a really good initial post made.

"What do I need to start a slatwater tank ?" is not a good start... it raises flames the likes of which Pyros and anarchist bow down too... LOL
