WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Sen. Gordon Smith, who voted in favor of the Iraq war and has supported it ever since, now says the current U.S. war effort is "absurd" and "may even be criminal."

In a major speech on the Senate floor, the Oregon senator called for changes in U.S. policy that could include rapid pullouts of U.S. troops from Iraq. He said he would have never voted for the conflict if he had known the intelligence that President Bush gave the American people was inaccurate.

Just like the other politicians, he's going with the poles. How many democrats voted to send troups to Iraq? And now, they are against the war as well. Like Kerry said "I"m not against the war, I'm just opposed to how it's being handled."

As for the intelligence info, all the politicians read the exact same info that was given to Bush. They read it, heard it, and had the opportunity to question and re examin the reports. And what did the Congress and Senate do? They voted to go to war.

Smith is only doing what most democrats are already doing. "I'm against it now" All for the sake of votes and majority polls.

That is definitely a possibility, fangs. I certainly didn't hear him objecting before the mid-term elections.
