For so many years
I’ve stumbled thru the dark
I’ve lived the life
Of so many others
All the time I spent
Looking to the norm
Praying for my salvation
To be freed of the
Fantasy life I’ve led
I make myself so close
But inside I’m really so far away
Never to close in
Unless I’ve had to survive
I want to cry
I want to see
I want to feel
Like the real me
I can’t pretend anymore
I’ve got to climb out of this dark hole
That seems to have swallowed me
It is night now
And I can see
The shadow of my safety
Is coming for me
He arrives
My fear is as black as night
As I shake and tremble
He envelopes me
And lays calm to my fright
He makes love to me
I can feel him now
He helps me to remember
What I’ve always wanted to be
I can cry
I can see
I can feel
Like the real me
I will live forever now
