I have been told a pair of rubber riding boots will be cleaned by me -- even the soles -- after they are worn in the horse barn. The cleaning equipment will be my soft pink tongue. Are there things we can do to lessen the risk of a poblem, as I will surely be cleaning up some fragrant and fresh horse manure as part of the experience?

Ummm.. can tetanus be contracted orally? I'm sorry, there are just some things that go too far. There are just too many organisms in a horse barn that I would be leery of. I have horses. I have barns. Draw the line.

I think this is a relatively risky activity given the number of parasites which are passed along in horse manure.

Cleaning the stalls so that manure (and manure runoff) is not alllowed to collect will reduce the risk of parasites but eggs and bacteria can be passed along in fresh manure as well. To read more about this risk, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader

This isn't a kink I have any familiarity with - I have simply taken a course in parasites and know of the danger of animal feces.

Animal feces is totally different from human feces. I will not ingest either, but if I had to choose I would go with human. Animal feces contain a whole different world of parasites than human. My advice would be "don't".

It's not my thing either, but I would say you may be running less of a risk if you swollow nothing. Get your tetnus vaccination up to date (which is advised if you work around horses regularly). Most horses, even those who are wormed regularly, have some parasites. Read up on the symptoms of parasites in humans and don't hesitate to go to the doctor with all the facts if you develop any symptoms.

As far as BDSM goes, needles, whips, chains, floogers, knives, rope, fire, wax, and tickleing is in among other things but all poop is out.

Oh my God you do not want to do this! Get your master/mistress to research the consequences of things like e-coli and use your safeword if necessary. This is WAY too risky.

i am in agreeance with the other replies. i think it would be wise for your Master/Mistress to do a bit of research into the consequences of this action.
While i realise that you may not want to disobey and want to please......you dont want to end up seriously ill either!

You can't really contract e. coli since you already carry a very healthy colony around with you. Any warm blooded animal has fecal coliform in the intestinal tract, including lots and lots of e.coli. There are a few strains that can cause illness. These are exceptions.

I wouldn't say that there are no risks, but pathogenic e. coli isn't one that immediately jumps to mind. Coliforms are very common in the environment.

You can smack a subby, leave a bruise that causes a blood clot which breaks loose and wrecks havoc where every it ultimately comes to rest, too. You can't take all the risk out of any activity, bdsm or vanilla. It's a matter of all parties being aware of the realistic risks and willing to accept them.

I agree. The risk of developing a giardia or round worm infection is probably much higher. And certainly pin worms are easy to contract - but these are more of a nuisance.

As you suggested, the couple should read up on the signs and symptoms of the differnent parasites. And if those symptoms develop, tell the doc everything so s/he can make an informed diagnosis and treatment.

This is a BAAAAAD idea. There are often mice and rats in barns along with equines that make nests in the hay and burrow in the walls. People have touched on the many wonderful diseases that may be passed from contact with horse shit alone. I will add and amplify that those boots have come in contact with a whole lot more that manure. They have stepped in rat shit. They have been landed on by flies (that vomit their last ingested meal on top of their next intended meal) GROSSS!!! These little critters carry a virtual cornucopia of creeping crud that they have undoubtably deposited on those boots! Some are regional (like hantavirus) NONE are fun!!!!

Opt right out of that one. Yeesh.

Just pointing out that although humans do carry E. coli and many other organisms around these are indigent to our own bodies, while our own strains of bacteria being in us are virtually harmless, someone else's strains in the same place can cause a plethora of problems. I would imagine the risk is the same or worse when ingesting another species' waste, yes - it's waste. Remember that this is the stuff our bodies are trying to get rid of, and it really has no business being put back in.

Yes it's quite true. The strain of E-Coli in cattle causes what is loosely termed "hamberger disease" it can cause bowel ulcerations, and the toxin causes kidney failure.

No species has one particular strain of e.coli. The strain that most people think of when they think of getting food poisoning is called O157:H7. Not all cattle or other animals carry this. The problem comes from the fact that the strain can be carried by otherwise healthy cows. All animals, including humans, carry a wide variety of coliforms.

You could look into a way to kill the living organisms that might be present. One way would be to irradiate the boots, or you could possibly autoclave them; though the first is impractical and the latter would damage the boots. Still you might be able to come up with something. Maybe liquid nitrogen would kill off everything but still leave all the tasty goodness behind.

Women get e.coli infections all the time from simply wiping the wrong way after they go to the bathroom, so what you carry with you doesn't even protect you.

While it is important to be risk aware about everthing you do, I think it brings a point of concern regarding the self esteem of the sub, if he is routinely putting his health at risk in a manner such as this, I would be greatly concerned. Such behavior would defineitly preclude him from havv ing any oral or sexual contact with me that if for certain. It also concerns me that the Domme making such request has little or no regard for the subs health, which in essence is her health as well.
