ORIGINAL: SweetBobbie Actually only a few viruses pass into the urine but there is at least a theoretical risk with blood borne infections such as HIV, Hep B or C but the actual viral counts in urine are small and you must have sores or abrasions in your mouth. Of course sores and abrasions in the mouth are not uncommon either. As far as the more common bladder infections go these cannot be transferred as the bacteria will not survive your stomach. Medications do pass into the urine but in dilute fashion usually not a problem with the exceptions of the penicillin family of anitbiotics which are actively secreted into the urine (why ampicillin is sooo good for bladder infections). As for dilute vs concentrated, first morning urine is like a fine wine to me the stronger the bettter. The stronger the better may be true but it will also have a higher amount of meds that pass though the urine. I pretty sure all meds are passed though urine, they all go through the liver which breaks them down somewhat but not completely. It is true that stomach acid is capable of killing lots of bacteria/germs but not all of them.Even not swallowing can get you sick because of the cuts and scrapes in the mouth.I'm not sure of the actual stats...but your mouth has a few abrasions all the time, that means stuff can get into your bloodstream and make you sick at any time.
