I believe that wood is a basic implement followed by leather.

I am always on the lookout for sources of patterns for paddles and equipment.

Anyone care to share?

I would say that I agree with that. I, as on the receiving end, really am intriqued by wooden paddles (not necessarily the ones you might think) and then I like leather straps. Leather paddles don't seem to do the same thing for me that straps do, and canes are too brutal for me.

A large wood paddle, thin, not too heavy, makes me tremble in fear and anticipation. The strap is a challenge, again a mix of fear before and pride after submission.

I disagree for myself (make note, just for myself...for many, it is wood first, then leather). Wood paddles don't get me going as well. Leather does. Anything leather. Leather paddles work, but like yieldingcontrol, leather straps are better for me. But that could just be that I have a leather fetish...anything leather is great :D

What woden paddles might you be implying then? Care to share a link?

Perhaps you would like a combination of leather and wood as an implement.

The wooden paddle might have speed holes in it...would that be to your liking?

Leather paddles need to be internally braced in My opinion to be different than a strap.

Perhaps you did not have a cane used in another technique other than full stroke. I use a slow percussive build up technique with crops and canes. Yes if used for corporal punishment the cane and crop can be brutal.

Well in my years, I have found a great web site for wood paddles, its all they do. I have ordered several and have been happy with each one. Plus, since its just the owner, he is very reasonable for making custom paddles.
