I am new to being a Mistress and need some advice. What is a good way to start training my "toy" and what are some common mistakes made by new Mistresses?

again I apologise...but just in the last couple of days I was trying to help a new "mistress"...."she" contacted me privately...and the way "she" was trying to constantly steer the conversation and some of the things said...well you just know it's some guy trying to get off...and the profile was started the same day that they posted.

also, when I only started making general statements, and refuse to go in depth, this person that had been talking forever all of a sudden had to go

About fifteen minutes later in the scroll I see they started an identical thread in a different section....so that is why I'm a little gun shy.  I"m a sucker for helping people...but once I'm taken like that takes me a while to get back on the horse...lol

I do wish you luck....just have fun with it and keep the lines of communication open  :>

For new dommes wishing to expand their skills, there exists Sea's Domme Training Academy. Our approach emphasizes hands-on training. And we believe repetition is best. So we repeat each exercise multiple times--hands on, of course. To keep your training certification valid, we require refresher courses, the frequency of which depends on how long it takes the instructor to heal from the last training class. And we think a class reuinion every five years is not conducive to comraderie and alumni spirit we aim to instill. Therefore, our class reunions are held every four weeks. Here is the application form for admission to Sea's Domme Training Academy. We have stringent criteria to accept only the most dedicated of applicants. Please do not let this detailed criteria intimidate you.

I am glad the academy interests you. We have a very relaxed atmosphere. We hold class sitting on the floor--at least the instructor does. The students typically sit in plush lounge chairs. The students are encouraged to question and, even, mock the instructor's ideas. How can there be effective learning without debate? That said, respect is paramount at our facility. Our instructor will always address the students with a respectful title. We are very focused during class. For instance, if a student is thirsty, the instructor will immediately fetch a drink. We cannot have the disruption of students walking out of class for water.

We find this approach creates an environment very conducive for learning.

Dear MistressFauxFire,

i wish You all the very best in You training Your toy, as long as You are doing it because You enjoy it and not just to fulfill Your partners desire then just go with Your instincts. There isnt one set way of training, everything is different for every couple. Search the internet, pick up tips everywhere and You should be fine!

Oh and Keep it fun, the moment You lose any humour or it gets OVERLY serious then You may need to take a step back.

have him serve your favorite beverage, then set at your feet and silently meditate while you read books such as
The Loving Dominant,   Different Loving,   Female Domination and other great writtings about our lifestyle , or while you browse the multitude of informative postings here on collarme ... from that point  "If it harms none, do as thy will"

common mistakes:
 
not being consistent
 
not communicating throughly at the beginning about goals not really having a plan
 
using corporal punishment for infractions will often encourage a masochist to to continue behaving poorly
 
getting lazy with the dynamic
 
loading the sub down with restrictions that you dont really care about, and therefore easily miss when he does not do them, but i guarantee he notices them, and will feel abandoned.
 
not being safe, not putting the care and diligence in to learning the human body, the techniques you want to learn, and all the safety procedures
 
not following through on what you have agreed to
 
raising your voice and or hitting out of anger (power whispers it has no reason to yell)
 
bringing in others to the dynamic prematurely
 
not having the good comunication skills and emotional maturity that it takes to own another human being

Wow! That was a great bunch of responses! Sorry it took so long to get back to it...we had a great night last night and I woke up in a great mood. I have to say so far we are both loving it and thank you all for your tips!
