Lorelei115 -> RE: whom would you call a true sadist? (1/3/2007 10:37:03 PM)

A "true" Sadist, in my definition, is someone who gets off on causing others pain. Doesn't matter if the recipient likes it or not.

YES! I agree! Never had much problem with my teeth, went in for a cleaning and two visits later, spent much of Dec. in so much pain I wanted to DIE! Now I go see him again at 2 today and I am dreading whatever evil thing he may have planned for me!

Oooh! And their *ever so caring* comments of "you're going to feel a bit of pressure" while inflicting their sadism on you! What's even WORSE is that while they're doing it, they can appear oh so gentle, what with the novacaine and all...but then...later....when you can't blame them...the novacaine wears off and you feel what they REALLY did to you. And they sit home in their fancy homes all smiles with the neighbors because "they didn't cause you any pain."

(I have two neighbors who are dentists. I've accused them each of this before. Strangely, one of them just tells me I'm being silly - with this strange little grin on his face...and the other always just laughs and says "You think so huh?")

Notice how NO ONE is denying my accusations???!!!

Neither a sadist is someone who enjoys inflicting pain on a living thing.

serillabound -> RE: whom would you call a true sadist? (1/4/2007 5:42:54 AM)

IMO I think there needs to be a distinction between between a Sociopath and a Sadist....the former doesn't care to get the recepient's approval or consent..but the Sadist gets off on the willingness of the recepient to accept and invite the pain...just me [:D]

One standing still said :-
a sadist is someone who enjoys inflicting pain on a living thing.
By this definition of sadist either in my opinion would be one.

 Another defintion  states :-
'A sadist relies on the lack of pleasure their 'victim' takes from pain and humiliation.'
Can you love someone and beat them even if they get no pleasure from it?
According to someone i know yes. They get no pleasure from pain or humiliation there partner lays on them but they are very much in love.
For me though i don't think i could hurt someone i truly loved in this way knowing they recieved no pleasure from it. Mind you i cant imagine myself hurting anyone who enjoyed it so maybe thats not much to go on anyway.

Yeah, that could be called a clincial sadist, too. They usually end up in jail or in hospitals; if they aren't caught, they leave a trail of seriously damaged victims behind.

Perfect definition to me. I always got a laugh when I would get a message or read a profile from a person who called themselves a sadist and then would talk about only hurting me if I did something wrong.

I do not disagree about it being a clinical definition but I am confused a little. Do you think someone in this life who fits that description is dangerous? If so, I would have to disagree then as there is still a pretty big line between causing people pain that have consented to it and causing people to be damaged and/or doing other things unsafely.

mmmmmm well I get off on the pain that I cause... and not on the willingness of the recepient to accept or invite the pain.  In fact... I like it more when they don't like it.... but I will take either.

So does that make me a Sociopath?

I think not...... Your definition is poorly thought out.

Sociopaths... can be Sadists... but not all Sadists are Sociopaths.  The difference is in their Morality.

Their is a Moral Sadist  and their are Immoral Sadist.  The Moral Sadist will not harm the person... they actually care for their well-being.  While the Immoral Sadist... just doesn't give a shit about harming them.  They could harm them as easy as stepping on a bug.

NO.... actually you describing an Immoral Sadist.

There is alot of Moral Sadists... that live very productive and love filled lives.

serillabound -> RE: whom would you call a true sadist? (1/4/2007 7:13:41 AM)

My response was not a clinical definition but my own opinion on how I interpret the difference...
and I didn't say that the recepient had to like the pain, but their willingness to endure it is the turn on...at least those are the Sadist that get me off...

MstrsDoris -> RE: whom would you call a true sadist? (1/4/2007 7:18:00 AM)

I also enjoy creating pain whether it's enjoyed by the other or not.  It's a matter of what he's willing to endure for my pleasure.  I leave no one harmed in the process.

yes... and all those individuals that don't get turned on by the willingess to endure it are Sociopaths..... Which is not correct in the least.

toservez -> RE: whom would you call a true sadist? (1/4/2007 8:15:42 AM)

Pain is something that has never turned me on but being with a sadist who does not care if it was physically good for me and enjoyed administering pain to me and seeing my reaction is an incredible feeling to me and a wonderful physical show of the power exchange that is my true drug of choice that I do adore a true sadist.

I have never felt I was in danger with any of the sadists I have been with. I like how Knight of Mists has defined things in that area.

daddysprop247 -> RE: whom would you call a true sadist? (1/4/2007 8:24:04 AM)

i would agree with others who've defined a true sadist as one who enjoys inflicting pain on others, not pain that will in turn be registered as pleasureable by their partner, but true pain and suffering. i also feel that sadism is not limited to physical pain...i have come across many sadists for whom my mental and emotional suffering was just as sweet, or sweeter even, as the physical torture.
