Hiya.

I was wondering would anyone know of places in which I could look into for nice clothes? I have noticed at some clubs and other fetish places, that leather tends to be the order of the day, even some places will charge you extra for not wearing apperant fetish clothing.

The problem I have with leather is that it feels horrible to Me to wear, I have an enchanced sense of touch and due to that certain fabrics/leather makes Me cringe.

So I'm  interested in anything which may be considered BDSM suitable attire that is not leather for example.

Just thought I'd ask because it's nice to learn new things and I like to wear smart clothes.

Cheers.

WoS

P.S  I do wear leather jackets/trench coats  but I normally have shirts etc underneath so My skin is not in contact with it.

Fabric is rarely the sole decider of what is accepted at clubs. Take an internal look at your fetishes, what types of looks make you "hot".
I've known Dominant who wear no leather before and some of the looks they put together were very well accepted.

Period dress of any time period
Cloths reminicent of authority figures ( Uniforms, Headmasters, Teachers, etc)

Also you will generally find that anyone dressed impecably will get some level of notice, and acceptance.

I was just thinking of this very thing. That is the biggy holding me back from going out to clubs, I haven't a clue what to wear. Does it always have to be skin tight/ pvc/ fetish wear? Is there a book called Fetish Wear for Dummies?

I often wear one of a few black 'cocktail' style dresses I own or even a tea length semi-formal..or a simple short black skirt with a dressy top.

Always heels (But seldom stockings....can't stand the feel of them on my legs).

Yes. sometimes I go all out with a corset or leather skirt or other stereotypical fetish attire. I even have black tails that I wear with a short black skirt. When I am planning to bootblack I try to remember to bring one of my embelished tank tops (Purchased from Old navy and I add bling beading accents)

*chuckles*

Thats one thing I'm always slighty jealous about, such fantastic items of clothing for women :)

Archer I see your point, I do like old fashioned clothing and I do fancy some of these beautiful Admiral long coats, I do have a slight "goth" look about Me, however I like the attention to detaill ie: in lovely brass buttons. Or the collars on coats etc.. I'm blessed with wonderful pale skin so I do tend to wear darker colours as I feel more comfortable with the contrast, while I feel deathly ill in colour's.

Are there any sites someone could kindly put up to some period clothing that I could mingle (not mangle ;) ) with some slighty modern clothing as well?

Thank you to everyone who has replied, ultimately it is what I feel comfortable in, but no harm in expanding My wardrobe and I never really feel embrassed to ask for advice.

Again thanks for the replies so far.

My Master is someone who does not wear leather. He has leather jackets and hats, but no leather vests, pants, chaps, et al. Nor does he do period pieces. He prefers the elegant but dangerous look.

What he wears most often is a black suit with black shirt and some sort of black tie. It looks wonderful on him. He also has been known to wear a black shirt and black slacks with his leather jacket. It's not always about fetishizing your clothes (you know, those net shirts, etc) but about looking confident.

cjenny: Shopping is something I'm always up for - and my mode of dress is always elegant (or nicely appointed). Since I can't find the clothes I want most of the time, I take clothes that I can do something with and then change them up.

As far as munches and the like, people around where you are wear casual clothes from jeans up to nice looking skirts and tops (that'd be me - always - well, always up till I sprained my ankle, and now I'm wearing slacks until I can wear heels again. In this case, pain definitely does not equal gain). The general order of the day though is some version of black, but people wear a lot of things and at munches, while they are not fetishy at all, some of the people do try to wear more sexy clothing. (unless you say that reasonably short skirts, jeans, and all sorts of things in between are fetishy).

The clubs are a different thing entirely and well...I'd suggest getting your feet wet at a munch and then figure out the clubs from that point on. As far as the clubs, your profile has you in a nice outfit. Add a skirt of some sort and you're set.

Oh...and if you'd like to go shopping, drop me a line...we can meet at Lakeside or Great Lakes Crossing. It'll be fun.

I'm a slave to my Master - and fashion.

Leather is nice, but not necessary.  In fact, too much leather gives me a headache!  I about pass out at IML.  Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

FR:  World of Silence, consider what makes you feel good, consider what you look good in, and wear it.  You will do fine.  I rarely wear leather to scene events.  First, I got tired of realizing in my 20s that I was in the "Dom" uniform:  jeans or leather pants/boots/white shirt/black leather vest.  It got silly.  Second:  I'm a big man.  As my beloved brother used to comment (he was a skinny little sub gay boy who could wear anything) "when you talk about getting a pair of chaps, cows in 8 states faint."  I worry that with too much leather I look like an ottoman.  And not a Turk, a footrest.

To a scene event/party, I wear:  suits.  a tux, if warranted.  Nice black pants.  A silk shirt (black, white, silver, tan -- depends on my mood and my laundry).  (Might I interject that in my experience, there are few articles of clothing that women consider sexier than a good silk shirt, and after a scene, when she's naked and a bit chilly, take it off and drape it over her shoulders.  SCORE.  There, I've revealed some of the deeper knowledge to you all.  But I digress.)  Archer said it:  If you look impeccable, you'll be noticed, and admired.  (and I wish I could carry off that leather armour Archer wears...I'm thinking of getting some.  Not for a fetish event, but for my annual law firm partnership meeting where we divvy up the spoils of war from the past year.  I need a whip too, now that I think of it *GRIN*)

i purchased a few items from
http://www.thedarkangel.co.uk/
that i wore for my wedding... very nicely done Gothic-style apparel, not the typical mass-produced "mall rebel" stuff.
i assume that if leather bothers you, latex would be totally unacceptable... otherwise that would certainly be my first choice.

Hiya, you would be perfectly correct there petdave latex is horrible to My sense of touch, I'm not saying it doesn't look nice or leather for that matter.

But I couldn't touch it without My tummy churning. Thanks for the site and taking the time to reply.

Mostly I'm in a dress shirt and linen pants. Worn boots and wingtips. My other half normally wears a skirt and top but she always wears boots. That's her thing and she ALWAYS looks hot. Like has been said you don't need leather. You just need to feel sexy in whatever it is you do wear.

Hope this helps..

For medieval costumes of various periods, see the link below. It'll direct you to a site with lots of links about making your own garments, buying garments, and documenting them. As a member of the SCA, I love this site. I'm sure non-Scadians could also enjoy it. Please see here
