Have a question..I was wondering how safe it was using a flogger on someone that has moles on their back?Any safety precautions or medical issues?I haven't seen this topic discussed before,so my apologies if it has happened to come up in the past.Thanks for the input!

Dear Lierin, Ladies and Gentlemen;

In my personal experiences, I have placed band-aids over moles that are raised or can tear.

If you do not have band-aids handy, first aid tape or regular tape will work well.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

quite frankly I don't see moles being a problem if they weren't abnormally large.  If they protrude greatly just cover them with a piece of medical tape.

I haven't had problems with moles, even raised moles. I once tore one a bit with fingernails, but I've never had other issues.

While some say cover them, if they look healthy and normal (no discolouring or odd shape) you can tie them off with some string, tight enough to cut off blood flow, and within a week or so the mole will disappear if it is raised from the skin. Doctors usually remove moles like that for people by cutting them off but tieing them off is a cheaper alternative. *shrug* Other than that, tape 'em down and have fun.

I ended up having mine removed.  I didn't have them on my back...they were on my neck, but it just seemed easier.

Be aware that placing band-aids (or other markers) will naturally steer your hand in that direction because of our human propensity towards normal "eye-hand coordination."   We tend to manually aim for what draws the eyes at the moment.  That's why people who are afraid to drive on narrow streets for fear of hitting parked cars, often end up hitting them.  They look at the parked cars in fear, then their hand on the steering wheel automatically heads in that direction, much to their shagrin.  If you have a crop in hand and look at the band-aid so your'e sure to avoid it, you will hit it, time and time again because your hand is drawn in that direction.

I would suggest "marking" the areas you wish to hit, rather than the opposite way around.  Perhaps taking eyebrow pencil and outlining the "safe" area so your eye is drawn to that would work.  To be really cautious, I'd seek the advice of a medical expert if I had any reservations.

Have fun,
LBO
