I don't place an especially high premium on "intelligence," though I know a lot about the concept's history and why its a social value because I studied up on that topic. :)

Personally, I tend to define it practically, that is, how it shows itself in the context of a person's life. Are they able to handle the crap life throws at them, or are they permanently flummoxed by crisis after crisis? Do they seem at ease with themselves and the world? I guess, thinking about it, I would say that, at its best, practical intelligence produces a kind of quiet confidence in a person.

i like someone who knows things that i don't and isn't afraid of me if i know things He doesn't know. i would prefer someone who has skills i don't have, who has interests other than mine. i see this as a way for me to acquire additional skills and interests.

for myself, intelligence is fairly simple. Be able to carry on a decent conversation about a variety of topics; be able to support a stand that you take without appearing wishy-washy; be able to understand another's PoV without sounding superior.

They say that the brain is the most powerful sex organ. I would have difficulty feeling submissive towards someone if I could think circles around him, in part because I'm arrogant in that regard. That's admittedly not a good thing to be but it's a good thing to know about oneself. I could feel attracted in other ways and have been very fond of such people though. There's also intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence, and I'm not strong in the latter. I've no artistic abilities outside of writing and gardening, so someone with a lot of imagination might find my brain boring. I'm also the most mechanically inept person I've ever met <listening to the unleveled washer pound through the floor>, so someone who wields a wrench can look like a god/dess to me.

I love learning so someone who was intelligent but didn't like teaching wouldn't be a great fit.
