I was told this was the best place to get any of these questions answered, but if I am in the wrong place please excuse and/or delete.

I just found out the other night that my boyfriend is into urethral play. When we first got together he had mentioned that he had done it a few times but he made it seem like no big deal and that he hadn’t done it since. For some reason, the other night we started talking about genital piercings which in turn led to this discussion of urethral play. I found out that he does it on his own in secret. He and I were both glad that he was able to tell me about it and I want to help bring this into our bedroom and get more experience with doing this to him. I have googled lots of information on it and most of the stuff that I read talks about how it must be done by someone who is experienced. I do not want to hurt him in any way. He actually showed me what he does and he let me take over…and it was a HUGE turn on. I have been looking up information on sounds and on catheters but I wanted to know if anybody else had any information regarding it.  Right now he uses some homemade device of round ended tubing.  Is this totally healthy?  It doesn't seem clean/sterile, but he has been doing it this way for years.  Also, he likes the length of the tubing but he is interested in something thicker like a urethral sound. Do they make thicker catheters or longer sounds?    I am completely new to this and I want to help him out in any way possible.

Funny you ask. I like it, and have yet to explore it very much. Last week, my dom had a wild hair and inserted a q-tip just inside mine. It was a little abrasive, and was uncomfortable and compelling at the same time. We learned our lesson though. I t was not a Q-tip brand and was just abrasive enough to scratch the inside of my urethra and make urinating insanely painful for a day.

I think there is a big selection of sounds out there. Including ribbed ones. Catheters are generally going to be the same size for adults.

I always thought anything that goes up there any distance should be sterile. Catheter kits should be sterile packed and come with sterile lube and not be re-used. I don't know how one would sterilize a sound except boiling, and then I don't know where sterile lube comes from - but I bet there's more where the catheters and sounds come from. I could not bring myself to do a PA, but would be interested in sounding. My dom has a catheter kit lurking in his toy bag.

I don't know how you'd sub something safe for a sound that would be longer.

But, chaingang.com sells a special sound for men that have a PA, you stick it in the urethra and secure it thru the PA hole. Looks interesting.

G'evening...

I'd suggest you speak to a nurse... and possibly obtain instruction on the proper procedures for urethral play.

They do make different sizes of catheters.... again, get professional information and instruction prior to play.

One reply stated that sterile lube comes with catheters.. this is a MUST. Standard lube is exposed to hands, and unsterile packaging/storage techniques.

NEVER reuse any of the items used.. catheters, gloves, lubes, chux pads etc.. all need to be tossed after one use.

That's my two cents...

in regard to sterile lube...

any unopened lubricant is assumed to be sterile....
I personally buy from a supply company packets of lube and each littel packet is sterile on the inside...and basically what i dis (I am an RN and have inserted more catheters than anyone else at my emplyer...Im one of those i can get one in a rock if i tried)  I liket he packets for a few reason  first of all the lube remains sterile...and secondly the catheter stuck intot he lubricant inside the packet remains clean and uncontaminated...

as far as teh different sizes...at the surgical supply stores theu sell catheters of varying sizes...the average adult uses a 14french....but i have insetered catheters up to a 26...granted it looked like a garden hose and was used in a woman wo had a history of frequent traumatic removals.. (basically for some reason the catheters would be removed without removign the saline that is used to keep it it in place)
