Okay - we all know i'm pregnant, atleast i know i am.  So healthy foods, vitamins and nutrients are must, right?  Right.

So i try and make the most of what i eat.  You wouldnt believe some of the things i've found.  Anyone realise that soy milk is like completely better for you then milk?  Holy cow - its packed full of vitamins.  Same with Nestle's chocolate milk.  (the one with the bunny).  Amazing.

So on top of that there is carrot juice, boost, Fruit 2.0 with 10 vitamins and minerals in it, those new kid pedisure bars that are loaded with vitamins and minerals.. OJ.... they've even got little yogurts packed with vitamins and minerals.

Now i'm curious...... what else out there can i eat/drink to make the most of what i'm drinking and slam all the vitamins and minerals in me??    Like i know the "normal" healthy stuff.  Normal food, i've down pat.... but its the abnormal stuff i havent really figured out.

So whats really really healthy to eat?

PLUS - i dont have to worry about over doing it, do it?  Especially if i'm eating/drinking it?  If i could make every thing i injest something that is loaded with vitamins and minerals i would, but on that same note i dont want to over dose myself on it.  How would i figure that out?

oooo on top of all of this i take a prenatal vitamin.

Soy milk has estrogen in it and can mess up your thyroid. Be moderate in consumption. Safer soy choices include cooked and/or fermented soy. Soy milk - iffy, miso - fantastic for you.

You should consult a medical resource, or even better, a doctor, about your intake of vitamins and minerals. And yes, you CAN overdose on some vitamins and it's not a good thing. Try a good mothering website like http://www.kellymom.com to find out information about the specific needs of pregnant women. Folic acid springs to mind immediately, for example.

If you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially raw, you can cut down on your vitamin-and-mineral-packed things by a bundle.

Vitamins are great, but too much of a good thing usually means bad results.

Soy is one of those things were we have conflicting evidence about.

We have studies that say soy helps cure cancer.

We also have studies that say too much soy causes cancer.

There's also the estrogen soy thing.. since soy milk is made the european way.

I would just ask your doctor.  When it comes to this, I wouldn't really rely on forum people... you don't want to mess around with pregnancy.

You mentioned vitamins, are you taking a prenatal?  If so you shouldn't have to obsess about whats in the food you eat.  Just obssess about eating healthy balanced meals in general.

i like to obsess.  Let me obsess!

I take a prenatal, which i cant currently remember if i've taken today.. strange eh?

i'm not worried about the hazards of soy milk.  That crap is loaded with vitamins.. cancer can wait.

i actually have a garden that grows all sorts of things.. so i get the fresh veggies.. and i WORK on eating fruit.  Plus i looooove veggies....

i know basically that i need a certian amount of X, Y and Z vitamins.. but i'm just thinking about more ways to jam em into my body = )

As long as you are able to eat a balanced diet I wouldn't worry.  Do you have any cravings or aversions? Are you getting enough protein? Are you getting enough calcium with soy milk? Calcium is very important.

I remember distinctly during the first trimester of my first pregnancy being unable to eat any meat. Protein came in the form of gelatin, I used the unflavored gelatin and various juices to make fruit gelatin which I could eat.
