EVEN AT WORK
As she sets at her desk snowed under with work, she mumbles and grumbles. Her boss is a jerk. She closes her eyes and pictures his face, embossed in her mind. It can't be erased.
She imagines him with her right by her side. She smiles at the thought, a smile big and wide. She imagines him sleeping beside her in bed. To reach out, to touch him. Speak with eyes, no words said.
These are the thoughts that carry her through the long nights. She doesn't care if its wrong, only that it feels right. As the telephone ringsand she reaches to get it, She imagines him saying, "I love you and don't forget it."
The miles separating her from her heart are the only obstacles that keep them apart. If miracles happened, if there was even a prayer, her dreams would come true and he would be there.
She sighs as she wishes. She sighs as she dreams. She groans at the fact that life is so mean. The office door opens admitting her boss, the jerk. So she sets her dreams aside and returns to her work.
