YOU ARE NOT ALONE

He tosses and turns trying to sleep. His body so weary and stressed out. His muscles tighten and release at will. His head throbs unmercifully. His breathing is labored, the weight on His chest almost unbearable.

He closes His eyes, trying counting sheep, forcing His restless body to lay still. He tenses and flexes trying to find some bit of comfort. The world spins around Him as He looks for peace.

Out of the darkness, from the depths of dispair a soft voice comes to His ear to His conscience. It's feminine tone is unmistakable, the words clear and precise.

"You are not alone."

Her whisper seems to brush the hair along His ear, causing a shiver to race up His spine. His dark eyes fly open, turning to the one beside Him, hopefully. But no, it isn't Her. She slumbers deeply, not a care in the world.

He turns to His side, His back to the Ice Princess who sleeps beside Him. Tears fill His eyes as He squeezes them shut. Emotions surge through Him. Unwanted, Neglected, Abandoned, Disillusioned.

From out of the darkness and the depths of dispair, the unseen One comes. She presses Her soft body to Him, molding to His back. Butterfly kisses to His neck, tender gentle hands to tense shoulders. Then the soft whisper:

"You are not alone."

Daylight. Stuck in a job He barely tolerates. Surrounded by others who have no inkling what honor and respect mean to Him. He feels separated, a Freak among these strangers.

He buries His head in His hands, closing His eyes. Blocking the sounds of those around Him, seeking refuge. He had finally slept, though He had awoken to the alarm exhausted.

From out of the blue and the depths of loneliness, He feels a touch to His broad shoulders. He draws in His breath, holding it, aching for time to stand still.

A voice in His ear, soft feminine reassuring. He need not strain to hear it, so clear to Him as the world continues to turn around Him.

"You are not alone."

Another day over. He has survived. Uneventful, unpromising, the same monotonous routine facing Him day after day. He does what He must to get by, finally dropping into His favorite chair.

The screen before Him turns blue, His fingers moving over the keyboard signing Himself in. He scans the long list of rooms, pleased to find His home open.

His character walks in, acknowledges the greetings of Free and slaves. He can feel the color of His caste, at Home among His Brothers. girls offer to serve Others in the Home. He sighs waiting His turn.

When to the doorway, adorned in robes of aqua and red, a Woman comes to view. Her green eyes are sparkling, Her long braided hair shining like polished onyx. But it is Her voice that draws His attention.

She moves in, finding Her favorite spot by the hearth. Pouches of scrolls are tugged over Her head, laid off to the side.

She looks up, Her green eyes moving to Him, bridging the gap with words unspoken. Her soft lips crease into a beautiful knowing smile and suddenly, He realizes:

He is not alone.
