Thanks, and I agree losttreasure's list is very impressive (and from what I've read on these boards of her history and in her profile, no thanks at all for that goes to her ex-husband. If anything, he was probably a hindrance to her doing a lot of that, I'd guess. But she now has a good guy in FirmHandKY).

asassylilslave: I was so impressed by your post - it was just incredible. You have met some really tough life challenges many will never even have to face - dealing in such a positive way with those is a huge accomplishment - the rest is incredibly impressive also, I think. Also a big yay! from me for fostering kids - I wish more people would volunteer with kids in any capacity at all - this is really a great thing. You sound like one incredibly good person. Truly - it is really, really impressive (and I am not one all that easily impressed).

caitlyn: I have always known you are one of the smartest folks around here. For one thing, you attend Rice U., do you not? That is no school for dummies. For another, I've been around these parts awhile, and I remember reading some of your longer posts, which were always well-thought out, and very erudite. I think you are wise beyond your years, in a good way. You are one smart cookie, and don't let anyone ever tell you differently, my dear.

asassylilslave... you make me blush. I think we all have a tendency to down play our own accomplishments... simply because we lived through them and know all the trials and tribulations we went through to achieve them. You sound very accomplished to me and I'm every bit as impressed.

I took several years of French in school, but am not practiced enough to claim any kind of proficiency. About my only "claim to fame" when it comes to foreign languages is that I managed to live in Germany for nearly two years and come away with only knowing how to order ice cream and say I want to pay my rent. Pity that, cause FirmHandKY is fluent. But at least I might be able to get away with cussing him out in French and he'd never know.

Susan, you are so sweet. I'm not surprised to read the impressive accomplishments in your background. You've always seemed to be such a thoughtful and together lady. I think you understand as well as I that even though we are perfectly capable of reaching the stars by ourselves, the support of a wonderful man makes the trip even more enjoyable. I consider myself very lucky to have FirmHandKY and I expect even more for my future.

But dang... I do wish I could tie a knot in a cherry stem with my tongue...

Well, honestly, I couldn't list only ten, unless I cut the last 6 inches off......

But, to be serious for a moment, here's my list:

1: Professional in hospitality; cook, waiter, bartender, and housekeeper.
2: Great eye for detail.
3: Spontaneous, adventurous, and fun.
4: Great working knowledge of fish tanks.
5: Over 4000 posts on CM.
6: Fast learner.
7: In a good career with advancement, travel, and relocation possibilities.
8: Trilingual.
9: Able to carry on a conversation.
10: I'm motherfuckin' benji, yo!

...gosh!!!...

...i started to back out of this thread when i saw all these wonderful lists of accomplishments...thinking how 'unimpressive' mine is by comparison...

...in reality i only speak one language...have a modest BA in Theater Arts...but...a Masters in the 'school of hard knocks'...claim to be a professional Fashion Designer/creater......successfully raised three babies to adulthood...while staying married to one man for 20+ years...then...surviving the lose of a spouse and a child in the space of three years...not terribly impressive...and not 'really' what i find most valuable about who i am...AND...being a slave girl it is incredibly difficult for me to 'toot my own horn'...

...but the 'things' i like most about myself are...my heart...open and honest and deeply devoted...my spirit...free and happy, always looking for the good in everybody and every situation...my soul...compassionate and caring, tender and giving...my nature...deeply and innately subservient and submissive, here is my joy and satisfaction...my countanance...humble and contrite...my personality...
passionate, intelligent, creative and artistic, salted with humor and peppered with red headed temper...my life...which i live with gusto and jest, holding no grudges and carrying no baggage, waking looking forward to the adventures of each new day and laying my head down each night with peace of mind...

...<smiles>...honestly...if you had 'lived' my life...you would see...all of this is a 'survival' mechinisim...it has gotten me this far and that makes me proud of who i am...

Well, benji... only the first six or so inches count anyway. But all in all, it sounds like you have a great package.

And you have a lot to offer, too.

Hissltviolet, I'm glad that you didn't back out. It sounds to me as if you've much to be proud of. Languages and degrees aren't the be-all and end-all of everything. I truly believe the school of hard knocks is where the most valuable education comes from... my only degree comes from there and it means a great deal to me. You most certainly have every reason to be proud of who you are, and I've no doubt your Master is proud of you as well.
