Butterfly boards are a fun way to do needle play, in addition to the ways mentioned previously. Essentially you make a board (I use corkboard with an outer layer of replacable matboard - some folks just use foam core board) and make a hole in it, pull the bottoms various dangley bits through and tack them down to the board.

More extreme is a crown of thorns, which is essentially the above mentioned butterfly board cut to accommodate only the glans of the penis, which also gets tacked to the board. It usually involves bondage and always bleeds a good bit (often will shoot a few feet). Not for the feint of heart.

The use of sutures is also considered needle play. You can sew all kinds of things together, for various reasons.

I agree with previous posters. I know of no other form of play that creates such an intense and immediate endorphin dump. Perhaps the single tail.

Don't feel bad Micheal I waited for years to learn needles because I didn't see the potential either.

It took me sitting down in a chair and having 3 needles in my arm (one through each layer of skin), After which I was sold on it, LOL.

I'm trying to figure a time to apprentice under a man I know to learn the hooks soon.

The physical pain aspects are endless it seems as well for us Sadistic types. So many places you can insert a needle in the skin.

I am not a huge fan of needle play ... but ... my hubby met a Dom on here and we went to some play parties at her house ... and at one of the play parties she gave him a DVD she had made on needle play (her doing verious kinds on her submissive, goign through the technique, safety, etc) and it was delicious. The back corsets were so beautiful that we bought a box of needles the next time we went back. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten to use them yet :(

my oh my!! what a wonderful thread to start, Susan...& MFM, beautiful pic, beautiful piercing...i've been to a decorative piercing right before Christmas one year where a man & a woman were decorated with ornaments...waaaay fun!!! i've always wondered what it would feel like to be the decorated one...the one about blowing on the feathers sounds wonderful...thanks again, Susan....

I wish I could post some pictures, too. The aesthetics of play piercing can be wonderful (and thanks MasterFireMaam for that pretty picture).

One caution...while being all rapturous about needles, remember there are those out there who see the sharp exposed, and gracefully (or not) float down to the floor in a dead faint. There are folks who literally pass out at the sight of a needle, let alone the thought of placing it. I believe it has something to do with overstimulation of the vagus nerve. I wouldn't "spring" needles on someone without some discussion first. I don't like unconscious submissives.

There is just something different about the endorphins rush from needle play than from any other kind of play that i experience. Medically i still don't like needles, had to train myself not to be afraid, made myself give blood to get over my fear of them, but play wise, i love them. In fact for new year's this year, i had feathers stapled all over my breasts with medical staples. It looked great and didn't hurt that much going in. The coming out level of pain varied with how much the Top wanted it to hurt. He's a wee bit (slight euphemism) of a Sadist.

I have been using needles for awhile and have enjoyed it. I have pierced my nipples with up to five in each nipple. I use them for the pain I like to reach the level which enchances the pleasure. I have also used them on my cock and balls. You can buy needles at drug stores cheap I think I paid about .20 cents each for mine. I have even injected alcohol into my nipples which burns like hell but gives great pleasure if I am withholding orgasm.
