Into my empty home, sweet with the sound of regret unknown.
Living with these shadows, flitting just beyond my sight;
A smile, a face, just out of reach, just out of place;
Cloaked in their darkness, for they fright at the touch of light.

Never had I thought them real, never did they quite appeal,
I am not so broken to find comfort in these shades.
But now my phantom has a voice her own, and soulful tone;
And I can feel her ghostly hands reach out to me, then fade.

A gentle whisper in my ear, calming and inciting fear.
A softly given expression, a caress tempting embrace;
Her presence moving within my soul, assuring me I could be whole.
My dreams come alive and my heart does race.

Yet though I desire it such, I do not risk to dare to touch;
For my lovely phantom, who’s breath I now breathe,
May slip from my grasp, everything lost through this simple task;
And never again know the depths to which my passion may seethe.

Nice. By the way are that picture you use from Mage the Ascension by White wolf or any of the artis that worked on those books? I think i regognises it.

If only the person within the poem could see just how beautiful his soul truly is, as does the "Phantom", then maybe the fear would disapate

nella: You're in the right ballpark about the avatar, the original art was made by Ronin Studio who does a lot of white wolf's books. However it never appeared in WW, yet it certainly has enough of that same feel for you to identify it.

MidnightBlue: You are ever so kind... perhaps one day I will know my soul as you say; when I see it reflected through the eyes of my 'phantom'.
