GirlyDevil -> Leather paddle Care? (2/8/2007 12:54:18 PM)

Hi all,
I was playing at a party with my sub and used my leather collar and paddle on him, but now the paddle and collar are really sticky due to me having to wax him. Is there any way to get off the stickiness? I've tried to use warm soapy water but that only made my collar and paddle shiny :). Any ideas on how I can solve this problem and has anyone else been in this dilemma before?
  Thank you

Made the paddle shiny and it's still sticky? Check with Elegant but I would use a small amount of baby oil to wipe free the sticky, then a mixture of saddle soap and water to clean of the oil, and if it's black or a dark leather, a small amount of huberd's boot grease, lexol leather conditioner, or pecard's conditioner. If it's not black shoot me a message and we'll work it out.

The cleaning method really depends on the type of leather (tanning method, dyes used, finish etc).

Without knowing that information I can suggest the following:
  1. Put 2-3 layers of brown paper (paper bags) on top of the leather.
  2. Using a hot iron (no stream) press firmly for a few seconds.
  3. The wax should adhere to the paper.
  4. Repeat if necessary, use clean layers of paper.
  5. After removing as much wax as possible there still may be a film remaining.
  6. Removing this film could be done with a very light solvent (ie: isopropyl alcohol) but that might be detrimental to the leather. Again, I can't give accurate information without knowing the type of leather.

If you have photos (yours or the merchants) you can send them to me and I will try to give you a better answer. I'll leave my email in your CollarMe mailbox.
