Nothing Ds here.

I had to put my cat down today.  He was 20 years old and lived a good life, but it's
sad anyway.

I've never posted much here, but read alot of the posts, and just wanted to share.

Some days just suck. [:(]

I’m sorry to hear you cat was put down zammer007. I’ve never owned a pet for fear of such moments. I’m sure you have a great collection of memories spent with you cat to call upon which should help.

Kind Regards.

all4yourplsr -> RE: My Cat (2/12/2007 3:32:53 PM)

zam,

I, too, have an older cat and I don't at all look forward to what you had to do today.  Having to make that decision is one of the hardest decisions anyone has to make but in the end it is always for the best.  He is in a better place.

Bummer.... I feel your pain! Just had to bury my girl kitty a couple of weeks ago. She was 13 and very healthy (I thought?). Only company I had....I miss her. At least she died peaceful....in her favorite box down by the wood stove all curled up in a little ball.

Heal up abit....then maybe come spring get another cat and give it a good home....that's what I'd suggest. They are neat little creatures!

I never get tired of this.....for everyone who has lost someone they love....

Just this side of heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to The Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together....

My sympathies zam. It's hard to lose one that you've grown so close to. Thanks wind for posting that, it was very sweet.

bludemonn -> RE: My Cat (2/12/2007 5:15:52 PM)

Have shared that experience myself and it REALLY wasnt nice, strange how you can burst into tears when you realise there is something or rather someone missing, i drew one conclusion after that...life sucks! You let yourself open to pure emotion when you bond with a pet, the knowing relationship without the spoken word...more a meow and a knowing then life deals you a cruel hand, worse when you have to make that choice yourself at the vets! Time is the greatest healer if you wipe away your tears and accept that the death of the body is the birth of the spirit and that good memories no matter how tough they can be are what keeps your cat immortalised forever with you.

lilypad1951 -> RE: My Cat (2/12/2007 5:50:40 PM)

i am very sorry to hear of your loss.  our family cat died in december and she had been with us for about 15 years, and our dog died in june after 11 years.  so now we/i (my sons no longer live at home)  have a guinea pig, not the same but it got awfully quiet around here.

So sorry to hear that. I've been there, i was so attached to mine i had him freeze dried because of all the things i've owned or loved, he was the one thing i want to be cremated with.
