I can't handle the only type of ear plugs availible they bother me keep me from sleeping, we thought maybe getting some bondage tape and covering my ears, since things internaly simply do not allow me any comfort at all. my other thought was maybe like something that wraped around the ears and behind the neck. I'm extreamly ocd about a lot of things, tight things like shower caps would bug the shit out of me and keep me from sleeping, so we're trying to think of something no n traditional and bondage tape, I think would not pull the skin.

I have a few options for you.

1. Soft Scilicon earplugs. They are very comfy.
2. Shooters or OSHA certified ear protectors. They won't work if you roll over.
3. Noise proof your room.

Is it you, or the other person that is the snorer? There are a myriad of ways to try and alleviate snoring, that may be easier than blocking the sound especially since you can't wear earplugs.
Been there, done that.

cj it's him who snores, and option like loosing weight and a cpap an all those other well known options are not something feasible for right now. they take time to be attainable and effective and we need reliefe immediatly lol. I can't sleep with noise like music. who knows might be kinky to use bondage tape  lol.
troll I use foam reusable ones, they still bother me.  I don't like the sense of fullness in my ears, they  interfear with me laying on my ears in the way I need to sleep, and later when I take them out the sensation still lingers,

sound proofing room would work if the one snoreing wasn't in the room too lol.

I've been going to the couch, but it's not comfortable and it's lonley and no one sleeps to well the person left alone, nor the person in the other room.

Theres a few tablets and things around that you could take, although I don't really feel comfortable recommending them as
a) unfortunately I sleep alone so I dont have problems with someone elses snoring, but the few times i have slept with someone else in my bed, i didnt sleep for the whole night because of the damn snoring (can you believe he didnt even wake up when a fire brigade pulled up outside his house.. twice!!!). but i semi i understand your pain.
b) most herbal/supplement type treatments dont really have any substancial evidence, but you never know, it may work.

I think the tape thing might work.. I can't think of any health problems which would come of it so you might as well try and see!

If it works.. hooray for you!

GOOD LUCK!

How about a cap or stocking or a pair of undies or a piece of elastic? Sow some cotton or foam pads inside them and you have your own mufflers. (I might try that myself.)

OSHA doesn't certify anything (there was one exception - a rebar cap).  OSHA sets standards of minimum compliance.  ANSI sets certification standards which are consensus standards.  Certification then usually comes from a Lab someplace.

Noise attenuation is a problem.   I have a couple of recommendations.

1 - Send the snorer for a sleep study.  I was a snorer, took a sleep study based upon my snoring.   I found out that I quit breathing 34 - 48 times an hour.  They fitted me with a CPAP machine.   The CPAP blows air into your lungs and helps you breathe.  The local people had 4 different types of mask 1 covered mouth and nose, one was sorta like you see with people on oxygen, and two covered the nose only.  Mustashes can be a problem.  With my CPAP I only quit breathing 3 - 4 times an hour and sleep like a baby.

2 - Use ear muffs.  They provide more noise protection than ear plugs.  The combination of both are even better.

you could always have him let you fall asleep first?  Or you could take some tylenol PM and knock yourself out.  Or use like a Head set muffler thing that goes around the head........ dunno what their called.  They use em at the gun range

Feline,

Did he ever end up trying those nose strips?  i see they also have a throat spray now.  i've never tried either so don't know if they work or not.

We've always forgot Daddy's girl,   i don't think they'd help since his nose is crooked and  I think is the cause.

KD he don't have medical coverage for like another month, we can't get anything medical done till he's got coverage:( once he does tho I want him to do the study an stuff, maybe even see if it is a deviated septum problem. and if it'd be correctable by a rino plasty. I'll try head phones, or like try to find ear muffs like from when we kids.

Devil I always wake up even if i go to sleep first. Perhaps a sleep aid would keep that from happening.

Feline, i feel your pain. i hate to bust him out like this but....Daddy snores. and i mean snores BAAAAAD. it's loud and completely without rhythm, so that every few seconds i'm nearly jumping out of the bed in shock. going to sleep first doesn't help. He says the nose strips don't work, and i know he wouldn't do anything drastic like a CPAP. it's also strange that he snores as badly as he does considering that he's always been physically fit, never overweight, leads a pretty healthy lifestyle, etc.

the only thing that gives me any relief are sleeping pills. i have prescription sleeping pills, prescribed to me for other reasons, but i use them primarily so that i can fall asleep and stay asleep throughout his snoring. trazodone works and also amitriptylin, but i have a high tolerance for meds so i take a pretty mega dose of each. if you've never been on sleeping meds before, then something OTC could likely work for you, i'd try unisom extra strength.

Uh yeah.   Cost like $5,000 for the two studies and another $2,000 for the machine.  Insurance would definately be good.

I don't think they would stop the snoring, but if you suffered ear canal menstruation for some reason, I think it would be helpful there.

daddies prop, my mom snores go d awfully loud you can hear her two rooms away if the doors open, so that's how I know going to sleep first don't work cause she's woken me from a very sound sleep at 3 am from her room snoooooooooooooooooooooooreing away like a broke chain saw. I sleep wonderfully when nobodies snoreing like a noise nightmare so I think otc would have to do for the pill idea.
