I didn't see this thread until today, so I didn't get a chance to wish you "good luck". I'm glad you are recovering well at this point. Rest when you need to, definitely be aware of the no-lifting ban. Take whatever time you need to get better.
I had a hysterectomy this past August, also due to fibroids. Now, six months later, all is good and my sex drive is stronger than it has been in years. Sex is better. All four weeks of the month are better. The scar is occasionally itchy but not a problem. Best thing that coulda happened to me.
You made me giggle when you mentioned having to stay longer until you passed gas. I had the same problem, and one of the nurses mentioned that it would help to move more. So there I was, walking/shuffling up and down the hallway so frequently that the whole unit knew what was going on. What could be more fun than having a stranger walk past you and ask "did ya fart yet?".
