celestia -> Being Rude (3/14/2005 11:46:50 AM)

I've read through the various threads and come across some about responses to mail. Given, I don't answer every post that comes into my recieved mail box, but when I do it is not ever in a deeming or overtly sexual way and I would like to think I never respond with just plain bad manners. Is it so difficult for ppl to write with some respect when you do take the time to answer them? Do ppl honestly think they are going to elicit on going communication by blatently making ill mannered comments? I would like to think that our choosen society has more respect than the "drunk dude" at the local bar, when it comes to conversing. Is this a wild pipe dream?

I've said this before, the internet provides some degree of anonimity and therefore allows some people the "freedom" to be as rude as they can be. Maybe it's their kink, maybe they are just weird, crazy folks. Just ignore them, delete their email and press ever onward. There are more nice people than not so nice, I believe. The not so nice just stand out more.

I tend to agree..if you are going to expend the effort to reply, why wouldn't it be in a positive manner. Luckily, I have received nothing but positive notes back, maybe not what I wanted to hear (darn it), but polite. I believed that was probably because I send polite positive notes out. At least I did..lol. I am assuming your's were not rude but you received back such...so I don't have a clue now. I repond in like fashion (as many do) to what I receive. If it's short, well I respond with a short note, I guess my theory is that it's like slow motion chat..lol. If it's lengthy with substance, I respond in kind, similarly. I also know when to stop..if someone responds with basically "no not interested", I understand that they are not wanting to be my lifelong friend and exchange notes forever...common sense I guess, rare commodity? But yes..they put a delete button on there for a reason...click em..lmao.
