MzMia -> Can a Mistress-Have it all? Career/Submissive/Family/Success? (2/17/2007 9:48:58 AM)

Can a Mistress have it all?  I just answered a post by a submissive that was asking can she go to school and be involved in a D/s relationship.  Soooooo, I have to pose that question here.
Can a Mistress maintain a serious D/s relationship, have a family, go to school, run a business, fulfill her dreams, etc.?
I think this is a wonderful question.

Personally, I am involved in several SERIOUS time consuming projects right now.
I have a job that demands that I either stay late routinely or work at home a lot.
Fortunately, I do get summers off. {hint}
Besides that, I am involved in several family/business matters, that when these are resolved will enable me to begin pursuing my dreams of a thriving part-time business.
{That will put me in a position in a few years, of NOT having to work that day job}[sm=mrpuffy.gif]
I also am devoted to my niece and nephew, etc.
Point is, I am busy, busy, busy.  I have long range and short term plans, that will keep me very busy for say the next 15-20 years.
Is it possible for me to have it all?? A successful relationship, fulfill my work, family, spiritual and personal business aspirations?
Sure it is, with the RIGHT partner.  I do not need anyone that is demanding or clingy or very “needy”.  I only seek a long term relationship, and with the right submissive, I think they will eventually fit right in.

To tell you the truth, it is the ones in between I can’t be bothered with.  I don’t seek or need “play” partners only, fly by nighters, serial daters, time wasters going nowhere types of relationships.
Can I have it all? I hope so.
I need to edit this and say---Having it ALL to me, means being able to live and enjoy THIS lifestyle and persue your dreams
and be happy!  It is not based on wordly success or material gain.
Having it all is living your life as you want, to the best of your ability--to me.

I absolutely believe that D/s is a part of who I am, at my core personality.   To be successful and happy in life, I feel that I need its presence in my life.

I have a family.  It's not a "traditional" family.  I am divorced, with two little ones from that marriage. I see them every weekend.  They are wonderful, active little devils.  I have a pumpkin from my second marriage.  She lives with us.  I have Master and one or two submissives that come and play.  I have a vanilla/kink couple that we are friends with (platonic) and my "sister", my ts roommate.  We are all very unique, different D/s roles, different sexualities, genders, and even spiritualities.  I work part time for a market research company and run a pro-dungeon.  Master works for a guitar center.

Are we rich.  Nope.  Barely scraping by actually.  Are we happy?  I think so.  Not complete yet, I haven't found the slave boy for me.  Are we successful?

Now that depends on your point of view.

I don't have it all Mia - but I have enough.  You seem like an intelligent, driven woman.  I think that the right match of submissive is out there for you to.  Good luck!

Miss Emerald

thetammyjo -> RE: Can a Mistress-Have it all? Career/Submissive/Family/Success? (2/17/2007 10:56:01 AM)

I have no interest in having offspring. I really like my household of adults and frankly I can think of a lot of medical reasons to not have biological children.

I have two careers I'm working on, one husband, and one slave. Overall I feel quite content with my life.

Yes, I think it is possible.  I my case, I am very fulfilled and busy with a full-time career, a part-time business, and metaphysical activities.  While I am happy as it is, there is certainly room in my life for the right submissive/life partner.  In fact, it would be fabulous to have someone to help with the domestic chores, as I don't enjoy them and am not good at them, either (with the exception of cooking, which I love and am great at [;)]).

As far as having children goes, this is not something I ever desired, so I don't and never will have any.  I think having children poses some added challenges to having a BDSM relationship, but it is still certainly possible.  My Domme friends who have children just have to be careful to keep the noise levels down, keep toys and books well hidden, and refrain from doing and saying things their kids wouldn't understand in front of them.

So I think it is indeed possible for a Mistress to have it all-career, submissive, family, and success--if she so desires.

Yes I think a Mistress can have it all.  Having the right submissive in her life should be an asset and a help to her.
A submissive should add value to your current life, not take away from it.

Yes, a mistres can have it all!
I'm a mother of 2.
I own 2 houses in Calif. and 1 houes just outside of Palermo Sicily.
I had a full time job and still had the time to be a Mistress/Domme.
I was a Pro Domme for a few years. I admit, I did burnout after a while.
Now I do almost anything I want when I want.

All of you can have it all too! It just takes time.

And because of this, another option is to not have anything at all, and live with that contentment.  Because there cannot be enough time.  'Enough time' doesn't exist (for some).

Funny I wrote this thread in the morning, when I was fresh LOL
I am glad so many here are able to combine this lifestyle with BDSM.
Women just tend to give up more in relationships, normally.
But I also agree with the last poster mstrjx, having it all, sometimes means being able to do nothing but relax
and enjoy it.
Thanks for the imput!

Nigousan -> RE: Can a Mistress-Have it all? Career/Submissive/Family/Success? (2/18/2007 5:04:41 AM)

I believe she can have it all.
I work full time, have a live-in submissive male (In which we're being wed on June 23rd), have a 2 year old, and I also tend to the house, run errands...and still have enough time to have this D/s relationship and have an outside life (with friends, which I have few of)...and still plan my wedding!

It's just like any other person (Lifestyle or otherwise) who can juggle a bunch of things at once. But it's a work in progress, and all can be successful as long as you don't stress out.

VeryMercurial -> RE: Can a Mistress-Have it all? Career/Submissive/Family/Success? (2/18/2007 6:58:05 AM)

Yes she can have it all, one of the keys is staying true to what her dreams are.
It is a balancing act, which I am also working on.  It is not easily done, but I think it can be done.

porthuronsub -> RE: Can a Mistress-Have it all? Career/Submissive/Family/Success? (2/18/2007 9:25:43 AM)

Yes, I think so.  My Mistress holds positions with two companies, has her own company, has a child (8 yrs old) and is attending school to get her law degree.  She manages to get me in there too.  So it can be done depending on your desire to make it work.

MsKatHouston -> RE: Can a Mistress-Have it all? Career/Submissive/Family/Success? (2/18/2007 11:59:41 AM)

Yes, absolutely.  I own my own business.  I have 2 children.  I have friends.  I have a husband.  I have a submissive.  I do volunteer work.  I have a social life.  I am busy all the time but I am happy and everything is balanced pretty well.

Please allow me to present to you an award of Co-Valedictorian Domme. I do not yet know how many other dommes get the Co-Valedictorian award but I figured adding the Co was the safest thing for a sub to do ;-)

Cheers,

Sea
