This is related to two current topics here in the forums.

When you see a hot-sounding screen name coupled with a hot-looking avatar... how often will you take a break from the forums to sneak a peak at the owner's profile?

I always read profiles, I am super-nosy that way. Sometimes it has to do w/their screen name or avatar, but mostly it's just that I almost always read profiles out of sheer curiosity. Some of them are so interesting and well-written, regardless of whether they are for males or females, gay, straight, TV, etc., I think (and I am straight).

But I've also felt induced to read a profile simply because I thought a post was extra erudite, or funny, or very thoughtful, and wanted to know more about who wrote it.

I am also just curious what people have to say about themselves - how they describe themselves and their "mission" here. I am so disappointed when people write, like one sentence or a paragraph, or can't spell, etc. It's a let-down, somehow, for me.

Not. It is usually what someone posts that motivates me to take a look at their profile.

It usually doesn't occur to me to look at a profile unless someone mentions it specifically. That doesn't mean I haven't just spent time going thru them just looking/reading but for some reason I rarely connect the two.
I hope this one posts...lol.

Sadly, I usually only investigate a person's profile if they have either really impressed me, or really pissed me off... hehe

I never bother to read poster's profiles.  I am just not that curious.. and how someone looks is not important to me. 
I do, on occasion, check out the profiles that pop up on the home page, and they can be interesting and amusing.

Subfever, that's a great question...I once had a CM screen name; "LookieNoNookie", with a photo of my "1 pac" (digitally altered for advantage) and a downloadable copy of my last 3 years tax statements (which clearly showed I was in the lower 11 percentile) and I was STUNNED at the lack of response by wimmens.

You'd think with that...I'd have had chics lined up...but nooooooooooo.

I suppose I could say that some of the times I post it's just so I can look at my own avatar.

If I'm lazy, I'll bring up my own profile so I can 'View Forum Posts' and look at something I wrote in the past.  Just to see my avatar.

So it is possible that 'I' find my avatar hot.  Whether the lot of you do matters not one whit.

Now my screenname, it's not so hot, but it's a name I've had for probably 10 years, so I keep it.

I will often check out a profile to learn more about that person, if the poster's words particularly impressed me.

But I'll almost always check out hot-sounding screen names and/or hot-looking avatars, especially when coupled. Can't help myself. Not enough willpower. I get drawn in almost every time. 

But so far, it looks like I stand alone here in terms of willpower and motivation. Highly motivated for eye candy and lack of willpower, that is... lol

I very seldom check out the profiles of the posters. 

Though I notice that alot of people will look at an OP's profile to gather info before offering an opinion.  Then they base their answer using the info found on the profile. 
I can't be bothered. 
Unless someone really has my interest, I dont look at their profile.

Oh man, I'm nosy. I read lotsa profiles but only for those people I see on this side. When I log in on the other side I might glance at the first profile that pops up but that's simply because I see it before I click "Message Boards".

I read profiles based upon their posts. I read all sexes and orientations on here, and it has nothing to do with sexual attraction, I just like to know who posts here and a little more about the regulars

Can't say I've ever looked up a profile based on a screen name.  A hot pic?  Possibly, but I can't recall any off the top of my head.

I really only ever look up a profile if someone has said something that really catches my eye--good or bad.  Even then, it's rare.

The avatar or pic is not what motivates me to look at a profile.
I look at profiles to get a better understanding of people whose
writing and opinions impress me.

99% of the time..nope..however if there is a post that I find unclear that maybe their profile may clarify in order for me to respond as well as I can ,then yes...Tempting
