Master Thomas isn't it funny how those that claim to be so liberal and care about other people,
can be so judgemental and self righteous?

I've noticed a lot of funny things like that. And trying to reason with such people is like

Why not ask, how would we be treated if we were in the same situation in their country?
Would we be put in apartments and would our children be educated free of charge?
Jenny, do you notice how you are wrong if you don't agree with someone else around here?
I am not a bad or evil person, and I resent being called names because I don't agree with
encouraging people to come to my country illegally.

Dunno if it is a full moon or what but I feel like I'm noticing.. something. Heh I never committed to an opinion on this thread which is kind of funny.

We wouldn't have this problem if those jack asses in Washington would simply do their jobs and close that border.
All you need would be 10,000 Troops and a double fence.
We can send Troops all over the world but not guard our own borders?
It's so easy a Caveman could do it!

Those web pages that you're referring everybody to aren't real news sites, and when you look them over carefully you'll see that they are obviously extremely biased. Anyone can make a web page, and anyone can make a recording.- and so, anyone with half a mind won't believe a thing that's said or written on either one of those sites, because odds are it's all completely bogus "news".

I thought this was an interesting article about how we are locking up immigrants into tent cities... some of them applying for political assylum, some of them undocumented. We are locking up entire families, and these are basically prisons in which parents cannot have access to their children at night.

http://news.newamericamedia.org/news/view_article.html?article_id=628f948c767d51b91f4157dda2a64da9

Today's Democracy Now had a show interviewing some of these detainees, one family happened to be unlucky enoug to be on a plane that had an emergency landing for a heart patient, they were detained because they lacked an American visa and they are Iranian

Sanity,
Glad you also noted that the source is a little left of Pravda. However, taking it as fact, considering that there are by the most conservative estimates 4 Million criminals, aka "illegal aliens" currently in the county, it would appear that they are stretching to make a point. Look at the numbers from the article:
quote:

Thanks to the DHS' Operation Reservation Guaranteed, the number of immigrants in detention has risen from 18,000 when the operation was launched in July 2006, to 25,000 by the end of September. President Bush's budget for 2007 includes funds to increase detention bed space by 25 percent.
The point is a meaningless and the number detained compared to the number of law breakers currently in the county.

Since they are not US citizens they are not entitled to US constitutional protection. The children born here are another matter. The born in the USA equating to citizenship is a byproduct of the Civil War. It was a way of making children of slaves citizens. It should be removed from the books. I believe, but maybe wrong, no other country offers any other short cut to citizenship.

Its a pity that some people are ashamed of their county due to it enforcing their borders and laws. I don't think it is in support of anarchy and lawlessness; but pragmatically what else can the argument be? Fight to change the law. We in the process of making many things legal and illegal on the basis of "good intentions". This issue has support from both sides of the political aisle; which should tell you something right there. They are both in the pockets of the employers exploiting these people. Both parties are pushing for some form of amnesty to continue the exploitation.

This is a very simple problem to solve. Enforce the existing employer laws. ALL enforcement at the employer level with the only consequence of an illegal being caught deportation - at the expense of the employer, times 2 as a fine. End of illegal immigration. ]

These "hard working" people need to work hard in and for their own county.

I guess America isn't the "Land of the Free" OR the "Home of The Brave", because people REALLY seem scared shit-less over immigrants w/o papers.

I'm sorry, that's blatantly incorrect.

The Constitution details the powers delegated by The People to the Federal Government, and as such says ONLY what the Feds are permitted to do.

That said, when you READ the document, it is quite clear by the use of the word PERSON and CITIZEN in various contexts that the framers were quite aware of the difference, and when they specifically used PERSON ( as in the 14th Amendment guarantee of Equal Protection ) they MEANT PERSON, NOT CITIZEN.

Since no one here has said they are "scared shitless" of illegal aliens, your strawman argument seems pretty weak.

You cannot think it is ok to lock kids up in prisons

Edited to add, many are here to receive political assylum, so they lock them up while they are being processed.. they lock kids up. I am not afraid of kids, are you?

If you ask my stepfather (a Vietnam Veteran), he would say that he does have a healthy fear of smiling, Vietnamese children rushing up to him.

I would be happy to know that the children are kept with their parents, A school within the confinement area would be humane.   But would I want the children of adults with undetermined goals who entered the country illegally to be attending the same school as my nieces and nephews?  Not so much.  We already have enough kids trying to kill their schoolmates.  Go through the red tape (must have had an idea it wasn't going to be easy), swear your oath and then settle in like the rest of the country and pay your school tax.

I honestly can't see anything wrong with detaining immigrants.  They aren't legal citizens of America, so I don't know what else can be done with them but detaining them.  Unfortunately this country is just not big enough to necessarily contain everyone that comes in here, and I do have serious problems with how immigrant labor is pushing down living wages for Americans.  As for the children, I would think it would be worse to just release children to wander around aimlessly while their parents are in detention - again its a function of what can pragmatically be done with the children who are not legal citizens either.
C~

Easy enough to say I agree, let them stay together as a family unit.

I have been personally detained in other countries because I was an American (in uniform and traveling on official business of the Government) because I didn't have a passport and the plane landed there.  In most countries I didn't need a passport.  The problem was quickly resolved after a few hours of detaining everyone because of me.

Improperly or undocumented is still illegal  so the problem is?

so violating immigration laws is a good thing?  So we should just open our borders to those terrorists that choose to come here because they want to?

I am not scared shit-less, just want our country's borders controlled according to the law of the land, not the law of the lawless

Ignorant, synonyms - illiterate, unlettered, untutored, unlearned. I would submit to you that most people who hate are not ignorant.

In any case, this particular situation I'd agree with you if the things you posted above are correct. They had no desire to enter the country, legally or illegally, but entered it as a result of things beyond their control, and only wish to return to their home country. You are right. It is bureaucratic bullshit. Beyond that, I have little sympathy for people who either enter or seek to enter the country illegally, regardless of whether they're toting kids along with them or not.
