ORIGINAL: LuckyAlbatross For me it's people who think certain things DON'T happen in the scene because it's just "too out there." I'm not entirely certain what you mean by this. Maybe it's just that my first impressions of the lifestyle came from movies and TV shows where "BDSM = EEEEVVVVVIIIIILLLL!!", long before I ever heard the phrase 'Safe, Sane, and Consensual'. It has appeared to me that the things most people discuss doing in the scene are far more down to Earth than I would have guessed. I've actually thought, "Wow, this is extraordinarily tame, compared to what I feared/expected." It just goes to show that TV isn't always right ;) As to my biggest pet peeve, it'd probably be short, useless responses to serious questions. For example, I posted about being a virgin, and wondered how best to get into the scene. While most of the answers were helpful and supportive, I also got a few "Just get laid!" comments. It just isn't the most helpful thing to hear when you are seriously questioning yourself and/or the lifestyle. I now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion. *steps off soapbox.*
