It seems like male subs are the most often to use nicknames online and in chatrooms as their virtual slave dream job description, rather than a simple name. It gets a little old receiving emails from "buttlicker" or "atURfeet", "cumdrnkr," "slut4U", "pantylicker," "pantyslave," "pantyman," "cbtLUVR," "toiletman," ...the list goes on.

Why can't you have a normal name, not a job description? Why do you have to have the fetish hanging right out there? Is it that important? Do you consider that maybe a woman might find you interesting first, and then find your fetish interesting after she gets to know you? Is your fetish what defines you, and therefore it must be your name?

The other thing you have to consider when you pick a name is that you sound like the other 500 sub guys when you sign up with a name "asslicker,". The femdom you contacted probably received an email from "asslickerAZ" and "asslicker4U" and "mrAsslicker" -- so you are going to get confused with the other asslickers.

Here is a novel idea: Pick a nice, simple, novel nick name that has to do with an interest other than what makes you hard. It will make your name more memorable and you might stick out a little.

But then each time they wanted to create a new account, they'd have to come up with a new nickname...

Exactly! Which is why so many of them do it, which is why so many of us do not take them seriously.

I'm more likely to delete an email unread or ignore an IM from someone who's nickname is overtly sexual. It just signifies to me that their sole purpose for being online is to find sex. ::yawn:: They obviously feel they have nothing else to offer.

You'd never by any stretch of the imagination be able to call me a prude, but to be honest, if you have nothing to offer me but a 9inchesHardandReady (which is, in any case likely false advertising) then I am not going to waste my time being bored by you.

This goes beyond male subs and their ridiculous nicknames...It's all over the net, and while I expect it because I'm here, and I don't believe in censorship, I just wish there was some way to wise people up that sexy is in our attitude and minds, not in our genitals.

It's not only the submissive men who do it. I know one person who uses the nic DomCock4U2Obey. I've never seen anything more ludicrous! I mean, really, since when is a penis dominant? And when did it start giving orders? And who the hell would obey a silly limp little thing even if it did? He could be the sweetest, nicest, most sincere guy around and I could never take him seriously.

I don't think some people stop to consider what the nics they use convey.

Wasn't 'Akasha' the super-vampire goddess in Queen of the Damned? I grant that it has a lot more class than 'buttlicker', but it sounds a bit like a job description to me. Nothing wrong with that- after all, a nick is a form of advertising (as well as concealment). Lack of imagination is a quality, and if someone chooses to advertise it, more power to them. I may be looking for something a trifle more sophisticated, but my impression is that many people are successful in getting just what they want (or perhaps deserve) by blatant lowbrow, used-car-lot style advertising.
Akasha, I think you're just in a different market- and these people are kindly telling you right up front that they are not what you're looking for. Rather than criticize them, you ought to be grateful for the time they are saving you. Admittedly, they could save you even more time by omitting to write you entirely, but it's not a perfect world.

I decided to go out of my way to select THE most interesting, thought provoking, and dynamic name I could think of.

After several hours, I realized I'm not all that interesting, thought provoking, or dynamic, so I just used my actual first name.

I spend time in the chat rooms here and it's annoying to see there or in profiles here. There are a few layers of meaning to my username (I've used it for nearly everything online for like 5 1/2 years)

Calliope: Muse of epic poetry. Also, the name of the pipe organ at a circus. I write poetry and my hometown is that of the Ringling Bros. Circus.

Purple: At the time, it was my belt in karate. It also happens to be my favorite color.

My nick is neither a form of advertising nor a form or concealment. It's the name on my birth certificate plus my last initial. You may call that lack of imagination; I call it honesty. *shrug* (I'm not real big on playing pretend, personally.)

You know, it does make them sound like a one note samba...

I like tactful names as well to be honest. When the names are all about a sexual/kink act, I'm thinking "this guy only wants sex". There is a fine balance though... sometimes plays on words can be cute if they incorporate a fetish.

Essentially, the level of creativity/simplicity in an online nickname says much about how the person wants to be perceived.

It DOES pay to advertise. If their nick is desctiptive of their desires, it's easier for someone who is looking for them to find them.

Let's face it - I'm not going to be a great match for someone who's looking for an "early to bed, early to rise" type.

There are probably subs out there who passed my nick by, because it didn't seem domly enough.

Heh! I have a current slave I'm working with. The first thing I had him *do* was to change his nick! English is not his first language and he had no idea that his nick was simply dreadful. I asked him what it meant and he said that he liked to inhale the scent of a Woman's panties. Hence the name: pantyvirus!

*shudder* PANTYVIRUS?!! he is now Sonelle's bhagat- FS0401 and much happier as My Collared slave.

I tend to name My slaves based on personality traits. So far, I have
Sonelle's slave k "First Servitor" LS8401
Sonelle's bhagat FS0401
Sonelle's petboy FS0402

Former slaves include
Sonelle's slavemichael JS9001
Sonelle's fifigirl MS8602
Sonelle's jewel JS9101
Sonelle's vanilla JS8501

Each name and number gives Me the information I need at a glance. It keeps filing options simpler.

Hey, that person has been obeying its orders for years! He just wants to expand the dominion

I agree that a lot of nicks the guys pick are simply appalling. I am guessing that they the choose the name because it plays into their fantasy thinking about free, no-strings sex.

The sad thing is that when a guy picks a boneheaded nick, it basically prevents him from saying anything intelligent in the forums. After all, how seriously can we take the opinions of someone who calls himself "asslicker4u2enjoytonite"?

I agree completely and find it absolutely obnoxious that otherwise very intelligent men pick horrible names like assliker, etc...
I've tried not to jdge them by the horrid names when they contact me, but invariable they turn out to be boneheads anyway; indeed they are stuck on the fetish so it becomes very dificult to talk about or focus on anything/anybody else.

LOL, true... unfortunately most asslickers/dickheads aren't reading this forum to catch this hint!

You're an optimist... I'm beginning to think most will remain their assinine online fetish names because that is all they care about; they're not really interested in sharing the true person behind what makes them hard, and often times they cannot because of legal reasons (like marriage).

I want to tell you Akasha that it has finally clicked in my dense head you are the same Akasha (well it clicked when I read your signature today, lol) that has the very informative website from where I learned the 1st bits of information to get me on my way to Fem Dom freedom land. Thanks, M

Well, y'all have only really talked about men's choices, so I guess being female, my very explicit, sexual name is not considered in the same way....

Certainly, I don't consider it my "job description". I do, however, want to make sure the my name conveys what I enjoy, and has a "catchy" kind of ring to it. I was once briefly involved with a man who called me his "anal whore" and that just sounded horrible, where "Butt Slut" rhymes!

While some can use their real names or other nicknames that are more descriptive of who they are in life, I work in a profession where discretion about my private life is the wiser choice.

I have to admit though, I probably would not be interesting the "dominating cock" or any number of the "asslicker". But a nickname should convey something about what you enjoy, do, etc. If people think that mine means I am all about sex, oh well. Guess they will either not email me or find out there is a lot more to me than that.

I would be interested in knowing how men approach with having this name...
Do they say hello there how are you? Or do they immediately start with what they'll do to you?
I think a woman with this kind of name would get A LOT of attention; a man on the other hand, I'm not so sure. M

Right. If I changed my femdom nick from "Akasha" to "BallCrusher" or "ObeyMePantyBitch" or "drinkmypiss" or "MsCuckolder" -- my inbox would be jammed full. Women of either side I think would get a lot of attention from men if they had blatant, in-your-face nicknames.

One of the quickest ways to know someone in a chatroom might be faking gender is if "she" has a really blatant, sexual nickname. Women don't usually do that because they get enough harrassment/wannas just from having a generic female nick.

Yes, I think that is quite right - fellas style their nicks after what they themselves would find noticable, attractive, and would generate a reply from them. I came to mine in the same way - most posters probably don't get my eponymous nick, but if I saw a female with something along the same lines, I would take notice. And the bonus is it looks like a real name.

Akaha - wow, nice to see you here - imagine that, a virtual celebrity among us. I hope you are not too disappointed with the NHL situation.

Heh... when *isn't* a cock in control of a guy? Seriously, this guy (we'll assume for a moment that it *is* a guy and that "he" is at least 18 years old - not a safe bet in my experience...) is clearly dreaming when he thinks someone *else* is going to "obey" his cock. The phrase "get a grip" comes quickly to mind and then limps off to a corner somewhere. It's clear with a name like this that said "guy" isn't in control of his dick and expects someone else to worship what he can't control. If he truly were in control, he wouldn't *need* to use a lame-ass name like that.

Sheesh...
